The Global Merchant and Network Services (GMNS) Pricing team is responsible for the single largest source of American Express’ revenue: Merchant discount revenue. The team works closely with multiple business partners to determine the ideal pricing structure to encourage merchant acceptance of American Express, while striving to improve coverage and merchant satisfaction. Ultimately, we drive merchant revenue and profit growth through customer-centric pricing principles, more flexible pricing architecture, and innovative pricing solutions.

The payments landscape is evolving rapidly and the need to proactively adapt for long-term success is greater than ever. The Senior Manager - Global Pricing Strategy will support key initiatives that will drive the pricing team’s strategies to help meet enterprise goals. The ability to understand and synthesize complex external and internal factors and to formulate strategic recommendations for senior leadership is key to the success of these initiatives. The successful candidate will report to the Vice President of Global Pricing Strategy and will have considerable exposure to senior leaders in GMS and across the Blue Box.

Job Responsibilities

Lead analytical workstreams to uncover data-driven insights that inform optimal Merchant pricing strategies.

Perform comprehensive research on external trends, synthesizing impacts for GMNS and the broader enterprise.

Work with internal stakeholders, both within Pricing and throughout the GMNS organization, to find Merchant pricing solutions that support enterprise goals.

Manage project workflows with limited oversight from leadership, overseeing timelines, deliverables, and next steps.

Challenge existing strategies and pricing frameworks with provocative, evidence-based, proposals.

Formulate strategic recommendations based on key findings, communicating takeaways to senior leadership through written and verbal updates.

Qualifications

5 years’ experience in Management Consulting/ Corporate Strategy.

Experience in and/or significant exposure to the payments industry with a solid understanding of business model drivers.

Strong aptitude for analytics; demonstrated ability to develop sophisticated financial models and draw value-added insights from large amounts of data.

Strong relationship management and collaboration skills – ability to manage external vendors and internal stakeholders.

Excellent communication skills – both written and oral -- with experience leading discussions with Senior Leaders.

Results driven with the ability to work under pressure, navigate through ambiguity, draw linkages, and balance multiple priorities.

Experience challenging the status quo and creating innovative, evidence-based, proposals.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
