About Casetext

What We Do Efficient, intelligent, and accessible legal research. We're empowering litigators to better serve their clients through advanced information services, backed by cutting edge technology, and expert analysis from the legal community. Our Story From the start, Casetext has focused on improving legal research. As a litigator, Casetext founder Jake Heller experienced firsthand the frustrations of expensive, outdated, and inefficient legal research tools. And as an engineer, Jake understood that applying the best technology - data science, machine learning, natural language processing - could make things much better. Jake was joined early on by people who shared his passion and vision. Early recruits included Pablo Arredondo, a fellow at the Stanford Center for Legal Informatics and Laura Safdie, a former managing editor at the Yale Law Review who clerked at the prestigious Southern District of New York before joining the elite litigation group at Simpson Thacher. The Casetext team continued to grow, adding accomplished attorneys, data scientists and engineers. The Casetext team has built one of the leading sources of legal information. One million people access Casetext’s case library each month. Casetext has also created award-winning automated research tools like CARA, bringing unprecedented efficiency and power to legal research.
