Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for operating Radiologic equipment to take clinical diagnostic X-Rays as directed by physicians in addition to performing routine diagnostic procedures. Establish and maintains working relationships with colleagues, and physicians. The Radiologic Technologist must display interpersonal skills required for exercising judgment and discretion when dealing with all colleagues, patients, and physicians. Traveling to satellite offices Litchfield and Sharon

RESPONSIBILITIES / WORK REQUIREMENTS:High patient volume Radiology departmentAbility to work under high-pressure situationsExposure to communicable diseases, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a medical office environment..Examines radiological for properties such as density and contrast, definition, magnification and distortion.Maintain necessary supplies and/or accessories for the X-Ray unit and processor.Maintains X-ray file system. This includes patient x-ray pickup, scanning x-rays from satellite offices to PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems).Refer to weekly OR list for physicians, mail-outs, and computer knowledge and filing x-ray folders.Maintains cast rooms.Stocks necessary medical supplies.Cleans and makes minor adjustments to Radiologic equipment.Participates in training and training new X-Ray technicians.Aids physicians by applying and removal of casts, suture removal, applying DMEs and dressing applications.Maintains patient confidentially.Maintains professional growth and licenses through educational programs, conferences and workshops.Attends required meetings.Performs related work as required.Actively supports office staff in between taking x-ray during period of down-time.
Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Working knowledge of C-arm fluoroscopic intraoperative imaging for orthopedic proceduresKnowledge of anatomy and physiology sufficiently pinpoint area of radiographyKnowledge of radiology equipment and testing. Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology including equipment, body mechanics and patient movementSkilled in properly positioning patients to provide quality imagingSkilled in trouble shooting equipment operation and performing simple adjustmentsSkilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, staff, and the publicAbility to apply written guidelines and standardized work practicesAbility to identify problemsAbility to communicate clearly
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Education: Completion of course in Radiologic Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Experience: One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist is preferred.
Certificate/License:Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).Current License with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).Current License by State of ConnecticutContinuing Education will be a required
