Reports To: Resident Care Coordinator / Administrator / Nurse
The Caregiver / CNA is responsible for providing direct care and assisting residents with their activities of daily living (ADLs). These activities include bathing, dressing, cooking, incontinence care, cleaning, medication administration, laundry, and oral care. The caregiver is expected to perform these tasks in a way that respects the dignity and privacy of each resident, while supporting their independence and overall well-being. In addition to offering personal care, the caregiver is also responsible for documenting services delivered and reporting any significant changes in a resident's condition. If there are any health concerns or changes in a resident's well-being, these should be communicated to the Resident Care Coordinator, Nurse, or Administrator.
The caregiver is expected to adhere to confidentiality standards, ensuring that all resident information is protected. They must also meet the community's appearance standards and comply with sanitation, hygiene, and health protocols. The role requires the ability to function independently, although teamwork and cooperation with other staff members is crucial. The caregiver may also be required to assist with tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and serving meals when needed. The caregiver must be flexible and ready to perform other reasonable tasks assigned by their supervisor.
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a current Food Handler's Permit, as well as certifications in First Aid and CPR. Effective communication skills are essential, as the caregiver will need to communicate with residents, families, supervisors, and co-workers. Caregivers in Level II Assisted Living are required to have a current CNA license, or they must obtain one within four months of hire. Additionally, candidates must provide written proof of a recent TB test or obtain one within two weeks of hire. The ability to read, write, and communicate in English is required, as is the ability to understand and follow facility policies. At all times, the caregiver should strive to represent SAL Management's "Super Caregivers" standard by delivering excellent care and service.
