Primary Responsibilities
Market Sector Directors (MSD) drive our business within the HDR matrix management structure. Our Global Maritime Market Sector serves port and maritime clients involved in port operations, leasing, and development, connecting water to land for the movement of people and goods. This role requires understanding of port interfaces, supply chain interactions, global security, and investments. The responsibilities are divided into: Market leadership and business development (~60%) Staff development (20%) Support to Operations (20%) The Director sets the vision for the firm's strategies, supports growth initiatives, and develops staff to meet financial goals. They coordinate with various leadership levels to implement strategic plans and maintain communication with the Transportation Business Group (TBG) Market Strategy Director. Role Specifics
The Maritime Sector offers opportunities to serve clients involved in the global supply chain, including US ports and ports abroad. The Director supports business development, client management, and growth initiatives, while engaging employees and promoting HDR's brand. Business Development
The Director leads market understanding, strategy creation, client relationship management, and project pursuits, working collaboratively across sectors and business groups. Key tasks include: Developing strategic vision and aligning technical and business services. Managing key clients and projects. Promoting HDR services and participating in industry leadership. Supporting pursuit activities and market share growth. Staff Development
The Director leads staff growth, recruitment, and professional development, ensuring effective team performance and resource allocation. Support to Operations
The Director assists in project delivery, profit monitoring, resource management, and quality assurance, fostering effective resource use and risk management. Preferred Qualifications
Minimum 20 years in planning/engineering related to global trade. Bachelor's degree in engineering, planning, or related field with registrations. Experience in strategic marketing, client relationships, and staff development. Industry association involvement and understanding of port facilities. Commitment to HDR values and culture.
