Job Summary: The Network Engineer has primary responsibility for the design, implementation, support and administration of St. Croix Health’s multi-site network infrastructure. The position is responsible for performing maintenance, upgrades, monitoring, troubleshooting and repairs as well as recommending changes necessary to provide a stable and modern networking environment. They will provide deep technical support for St. Croix Health’s network, security and storage platforms. This position will architect, administer and troubleshoot the corporate network environment to ensure the organization’s IT needs are met. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1.
Design, implement, troubleshoot corporate network environment, including off site locations. Evaluate, develop and design current and future network systems, evaluating solutions to provide a stable and secure network environment Responsible for the set-up of resilient and redundant network infrastructure to ensure minimal downtime in the production environment Lead the implementation, maintenance and administration of network hardware in an enterprise environment. Responsible for the improvement and optimization of network assets. Ensure server environment is set up for business continuity and disaster recovery purposes Establish and maintain enforceable policies, processes and monitoring solutions for early identification and prevention of network issues. Assist the Systems Admin with disaster recovery and back-up processes Assist with the management and integration of Microsoft 365 and other Cloud Tenants 2.
Network integrity and security oversight Ensures networks are protected from physical harm, viruses, unauthorized users, and damage to data by developing and monitoring security procedures Assist with security assessments or enterprise systems to ensure compliance with designed policies, Take appropriate actions to resolve concerns identified by assessments and audits while constantly working to improve audit results. Participate as a primary member of the security team actively engaging in improving the organization’s network security Research and remain educated on industry standards and innovations. Provide recommendations to IT leadership regarding appropriate networking investments and opportunities Monitor, control and evaluate network access to ensure network security 3.
Monitor server environment. Research and make recommendations on server system administration Verify required documentation is available and accessible Responsible for Microsoft design and implementation including SQL, Exchange and SharePoint 4.
Other duties as assigned. Monitor and document the state of networking (hardware and software) to allow for accurate future planning and budget development Partner with the IT director to identify and plan for projects to be included in the annual IT operating and capital budget **To be an accurate reflection of the job requirements, management reserves the right to modify, add or remove duties from particular jobs and to assign other duties as necessary. Requirements Education & Licensure: Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer science or information technology Certifications in Cisco, Fortinet, Microsoft or similar networking products preferred Experience: 5 years of IT networking experience including installing, configuring and supporting network equipment routers, switches and firewalls Experience with design, implementation and administration of wired and wireless networks as well as various network topologies Programming experience helpful but not required Thorough knowledge of routing, network security and design, ACLs, VLANs, and network segmentation Experience with DNS, DHCP, SNMP, OSPF, BGP, MOE/MPLS, and SDWAN Working technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows Server 2022, 2019, 2016 & 2012 and Microsoft Windows 10 & 11 Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Products, including Active Directory, SQL and Exchange Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including VPN configuration; Cisco or Fortinet experience preferred Experience securing networks by network access, monitoring, control and evaluation, and maintaining documentation; Hardening of servers for security purposes (enhanced server security through a variety of means) Experience in PowerShell Competencies: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws (HIPAA) Strong interpersonal skills Ability to conduct research into networking issues and products as required Keen attention to detail Extremely detail orientated with strong organizational skills Ability to self-direct an appropriately prioritize projects under general leadership guidance Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment Exceptional customer service and communication skills Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment Excellent communication and listening skills Demonstrated ability to work independently with little direction and manage multiple demands and priorities Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times St. Croix Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
