This role requires being onsite four (4) days per week.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers’ experiences and of TriMet’s product and service offerings.

Provide professional engineering services in developing and reviewing conceptual and detailed design of TriMet Operations facilities, MAX platforms and amenities, bus shelters and other TriMet owned facilities and buildings. Prepare designs, calculations, cost estimates, documentation and public presentation material related to TriMet facilities, maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of defects. Evaluate the functional feasibility, electrical and mechanical design, and system reliability of various electrical and mechanical systems, equipment, and hardware associated with future and existing Operations facilities as they relate to the facilities system maintenance and repair. Coordinate with other TriMet engineers, staff and consultants to ensure compatible designs. Review product and systems submittals for compliance with contract requirements and TriMet criteria. Prepare documents for the maintenance standards and procedures of facilities systems, installations and equipment. Assist with administration of contracts relating to the procurement, installation, testing and start-up of various facilities disciplines, hardware, software, and related equipment. Coordinate with systems engineering, consultants and other system, and civil contracts on construction issues. Prepare minutes, documentation, specifications and technical reports, and review such material generated by others. Assist with preparation of contract specifications and bid documents. Responsible for approving and maximizing: 1) relevant design criteria, 2) facilities inspection and test procedures, 3) facilities Maintenance Standards. Monitor maintenance and manufacturing activities to assure contractual and manufacturer compliance. Perform field measurements and calculations to verify quantities and quality of completed work. Assist with contracts administration for management of equipment procurement, testing and consultant contracts. Provide lead expert guidance to facilities management, supervisors consultants, systems engineering and other support staff as required for specific assignments and within the guidelines provided by the Operations Engineering Management. Represent TriMet at various interagency meetings and industry meetings as a technical representative. A minimum of a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or a relevant engineering degree is required.
Six (6) years of total credited experience.*
Six (6) years of experience as a competent practicing engineer are required. Six (6) years of engineering experience in an area directly applicable to electrical, civil and mechanical systems design, inspection, and manufacturing or maintenance management are required.
PE- Professional Engineer is required within one (1) year of employment. Or any equivalent combination of experience and training.*
The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary Range Minimum: $117,044.00 Maximum: $175,568.00 Salary offers will be determined by a candidate’s education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet’s salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.
