Overview
The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, Inc. is seeking an Accounting Manager to provide effective oversight of the daily accounting functions, periodic reconciliations, closings, and reporting while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and promoting a strong sense of teamwork with a commitment to mentoring others. Reports to Director of Finance.
Position Type
This is a full-time, benefit eligible position that will work in-person at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, NY. The salary range for this position is $60,000-65,000. Benefits associated with this position include health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, medical/dental FSA, retirement, and paid time off (vacation, sick, holidays).
Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Supervise the daily accounting functions to include accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets and journal entries
- Perform complex reconciliations
- Identifying issues and ensuring timely recording of adjustments
- Monitor various financial activities and prepare reports ad hoc
- Produce a variety of reports to staff within the organization with the ability to answer subsequent questions
- Direct involvement in external financial audit supporting document collection and explanation
- Formulate and recommend accounting policies and make recommendations to improve existing accounting systems
- Troubleshoot problems with accounting software, processes and reporting
- Oversee the work of finance team for accuracy and completeness with an eye on processing improvements
- Prepare draft financials and explain unusual variances
- Participate daily in accounting operations
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting (preferred) or business
- 3-5 years’ experience in a similar capacity
- Proficient in GAAP
- Not-for-profit accounting preferred, not required
- Experience with NetSuite preferred, not required
- Exhibit knowledge of GAAP
- Ability to make decisions within established accounting policies and procedures
- Follow and relate complex oral and written instruction, policies and procedures
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with subordinates, other employees and the general public
- Independent worker
- Strong written and oral communications and relational skills
- Proficient in Excel
- Operate a variety of office equipment
- Other duties as assigned
