Summary
The Technology Specialist is the initial point of contact for all credit union end users and for all technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. This position responds to queries, runs diagnostic programs, isolates problems, determines and implements solutions. This position is also responsible for the provisioning system access for all end users and vendors ensuring compliance with credit union corporate policies.
Essential Functions
Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and networks.
Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and escalate issues to appropriate IT personnel when necessary. Complete requests within service level agreements.
Manage user access by assigning or removing system permissions based on job roles, ensuring users only have the access they need (Principle of Least Privilege).
Assist in the development and maintenance of IT documentation, including user guides and system configurations.
Support the IT team in managing inventory of hardware and software assets.
Assist in setting up and deployment of new equipment.
Perform routine system updates and backups.
Properly escalates when user and system related security standards are not adhered to.
Participate in IT projects and initiatives as needed.
Maintains a general understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.
Performs other job-related duties as necessary.
Qualifications
Requires excellent communication to coordinate with vendors, staff, and management to providing training and support to users.
High School Graduate and minimum completion of (2) Computer Science college courses.
Preferred: Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 months of hands-on experience in the support, maintenance, and upgrading of computer systems, including troubleshooting of operating systems, hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Preferred: At least 1 year of relevant experience within a financial services institution.
Fluent in Spanish is helpful but not required.
Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Working knowledge in Windows based systems and Microsoft Office programs including Word and Excel.
