Gunstock Mountain Resort Gunstock Mountain Resort is seeking a Director of Snowsports to lead its beloved and dynamic snowsports school programs. As a key member of the senior management team reporting to the General Manager, the Snowsports Director oversees the strategic direction, financial performance, and operational success of the Learning Center, Children’s Center, Nordic Operations, and Race Operations departments. This role is ideal for a leader who brings fresh, guest-focused approaches to snowsports instruction, program design, and instructor development.
Key Responsibilities
Snowsports Operations: Inspire and guide ski, snowboard, and cross-country instructors in the Learning and Children’s Centers and Nordic Center. Deliver top-tier guest experiences focused on skill development, retention, and fun. Design and lead on-snow clinics emphasizing cutting-edge teaching, technique, and sports science. Collaborate with mountain operations to enhance terrain for all skill levels. Financial Leadership: Build and manage annual budgets for all assigned departments. Monitor performance and continuously seek opportunities to exceed financial goals. Establish pricing and program positioning that drives growth and profitability.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
Deep knowledge of the ski industry and an authentic passion for skiing/snowboarding and outdoor adventure. 5+ years of progressive experience leading snowsports instruction and innovative program development. Proven success managing revenue-generating operations in a recreational mountain environment. Strong budgeting skills and analytical abilities. PSIA/AASI Level 2 certification or higher preferred. Tech-savvy, with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel), InTouch POS, and race timing systems.
