Overview
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Team Leader of the Electrical department you will be responsible for maintaining the controls and electrical system of our Plant operations. You will be responsible for sustaining the current system while prioritizing and planning the work of your Team members on a day-to-day basis. As Team lead you will ensure the safety and technical quality of all tasks executed by your team.
Coordinate the design, installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of Plants automated machines, PLC systems, circuit controls and its auxiliary equipment.
Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate and align automated system machines. This involves PLC’s , VFD’s and Servo drive systems.
Review electrical plans to ensure adherence to design specifications and compliance with electrical codes and standards.
Manage Maintenance work orders. Complete assigned, preventive maintenance tasks on various pieces of equipment. Review of all work performed by team members.
Provide Technical direction for the design and development of Industrial automation systems for future upgrades/modifications to existing controls. Supervise projects with an eye to improving Plant efficiency and safety.
Be both a Leader and hands on contributor at all levels while coaching and mentoring your Team.
Review electrical controls for work functionality, safety, reliability, cost reduction and servicing.
Maintaining and improving the Operations PLC systems and control Panels.
Lead and contribute to Risk Assessments.
Daily communication with other Department leads, Operations and Supervisors.
Work with Outside Suppliers and Contractors regarding parts supply or maintenance projects required.
Involved in the hiring of new Team members when required.
Act as a member of the Safety Committee.
Other related duties required.
Experience in Electrical/Automation systems, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and leadership.
Strong knowledge of PLC programming using Ladder logic and Function block Diagrams in Allen Bradely and Modicon control systems.
Knowledge of PLC hardware systems, control panel layout & design, low voltage power distribution systems
PLC/HMI experience
Ability to read and develop panel electrical schematics.
Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude.
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical principles, such as motors, drives and gearboxes.
Knowledge and experience working with Industrial communication protocols, such as ModBus Plus, Ethernet /IP
Must have experience in leading a team.
Excellent troubleshooting skills
Willingness to work overtime (when required)
Intermediate MS office skills
Ability to work in fast-paced environment and meet deadlines and productivity targets
Strong problem solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work alone or in a group
Positive attitude and self-starter
Diploma in Instrumentation/Technician required.
Electrical License considered an asset.
3/5 years of industry-related experience required.
