To drive the scale and global reach of our offerings we support the full spectrum of merchants – from the smaller, simpler to very large enterprises – and we go to market both directly and through our partners.  Our partners include acquirers, payfacs, independent software vendors and telcos.  To make acceptance ubiquitous, we focus on aggregators and distribution across platforms and devices, making modern, best in class digital capabilities available to all in solution suites as well as on an a la carte basis.  Component capabilities within Acceptance Solutions include Authorize.Net, Cybersource, acceptance side risk and fraud solutions, token and credential lifecycle capabilities, Tap to Phone and Visa Acceptance Cloud among other capabilities.     

The Vice President, Acceptance Solutions Strategy will set Acceptance Solutions’ overall global strategy, assessing the evolving competitive landscape, key opportunities for growth, sources of differentiation and articulate such strategy across clients, industry forums and among employees.  You will take the lead in shaping the future direction of our business and works hands-on with the leadership team and business functions to connect academic business content to pragmatic, results-oriented output.  This individual will lead a team of strategy analysts responsible for helping the leadership team make big decisions that will guide our multi-year business plans.  The successful candidate will have deep experience in the payments industry and a deep understanding of acceptance as well as have a passion for staying in front of emerging trends impacting merchants, acquirers and fin-techs. 

The VP, Strategy role will be highly visible across the organization and will have broad reach into a variety of teams and geographies.  This versatile leader must have the ability to gain deep subject matter depth on a multitude of topics on short notice and be skilled at the synthesis of multiple sources of information (qualitative and quantitative) in order to create real and actionable insights for the business.  They must stay in front of innovation trends in the payments industry and be able to develop an independent point of view on topics in the face of uncertainty and imperfect information.  The ideal candidate will have the unique combination of corporate strategy experience coupled with deep payments industry expertise.  Front line, customer facing experience, to reflect that client vantage point and ground us in the operational realities is also highly valuable as is a global experience and/or mindset.

This VP will build effective, scalable strategies and a strong culture of excellence within their team and across the business. The best-suited candidate be a persuasive, inspiring and clear communicator with high emotional intelligence and will possess a strong accomplishment record of motivating teams and building consensus.  You will report to the SVP, Global Head of Acceptance Solutions.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Essential Duties:

  • Evolve and refine the Acceptance Solutions strategy to reflect emerging opportunities based on deep expertise in merchant acquiring, a point of view on commerce platform players and emerging technology trends.  Key role in communicating this strategy to industry analysts, potential clients, prospective partners and internal stakeholders

  • Evaluate the existing capability and component products to create a plan for net new capabilities, extensions, and partner enhancements reflective of key stakeholder needs. Collaborate with the broader organization to achieve vision

  • Architect and execute a plan which reflects the business’ unique industry position and strengths.  Act as lead on potential M&A activity evaluation

  • Manage a global strategy roster for the Acceptance Solutions organization, prioritizing initiatives, executing project deep dives based upon regional, product or business line objectives and goals

  • Manage projects end-to-end, delivering actionable recommendations. Coordinate execution of recommendations with key stakeholders as needed

  • Execute market research and connects leading trends to business goals for decision-making purposes.  Analyze and synthesize research into consumable strategy epics

  • Identify and lead business critical programs such as multi-year planning and framing the annual operating plan relative to key strategic pillars as well as facilitating the prioritization of opportunities

  • Facilitate key forums to hold the organization accountable to objectives and goals

  • Lead on execution of key executive initiatives whether activation of a cross-functional working team, a major program, or executive directive

  • Develop a view on key operating metrics that drive strategic and operational decisions

  • Manage an on-demand research function, including analysis of company 10ks, filings, industry news, economic data and consumer/merchant statistics and trends

  • Maintain a competitive intelligence database and keeps the organization aware of news, updates and insights

  • Support senior leadership team by developing thought leadership for internal executive meetings and presentations

Basic Qualifications:

12 years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree, 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters/MBA/JD/MD), or a minimum of 7 years of work
experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

15 or more years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, PhD)

• 7+ years of strategy leadership
• 7+ years of payments industry experience
• Proven & seasoned corporate strategy expertise, with experience providing guidance to complex, matrixed organizational structures
• Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills
• Inspiring, engaging people leader and communicator, able to set a vision and bring people with them
• Ability to operate in a hyper-growth environment and understand both the complexity and challenges of navigating a business line through transformation
• Deeply customer centric and passionate about understanding the needs of our clients
• Highly skilled in metrics-based decision making
• Exceptional at driving prioritization across a complex portfolio of solutions
• Experienced and credible in building valuable relationships with senior leaders and decision-makers
• Knowledge of industry best practices in areas such as design thinking, UI/UX, rapid and mobile first innovation
• Knowledge of key technologies such as mobile, internet of things, authentication
• A highly analytical and structured thinker with an excellent ability to put complex ideas into clear frameworks and to use data to drive strategic objectives and priorities
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of financial models, solutions packaging and pricing as well as marketing engagement
• Ability to develop highly engaged teams

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
