Strom Minnesota is currently looking for a Welder/Fabricator for our client in Bloomington, MN. The hours are 6:am-3:30pm M-Th & 7:am-11:am Fri. Welder/Fabricator Overview: Company is a leading manufacturer of ceiling support systems and air delivery devices used primarily in operating rooms, clean rooms and pharmacies. The Welder is expected to support the Operations Manager, Production Manager and Production Lead in all fulfillment aspects at PAP. Primary responsibilities will be to cut, stage, build and TIG weld aluminum extrusion and sheet metal products. This person must be able to operate and maintain the appropriate equipment needed to complete the tasks required of them. They also must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The candidate should have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of welding aluminum is essential and welding other types of metal is recommended. This individual must be a self-starter and able to work independently while maintaining a professional and safe work environment. Additionally, the Welder will also support the Operations Manager, Production Lead and Production Manager in any other capacities as needed to fulfil the requirements for shipment and adherence to the project job production schedule as indicated by the Production Manager. Primary Responsibilities: Be able to TIG weld thin aluminum, future deployment of MIG welding expected Interpret blueprints, specs, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process and give feedback for improvements in these same areas Ability to read and accurately use measuring tools Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements and types) Operate angle grinders and jitterbug type sanders to prepare and/or touch-up material Maintain and stage incoming raw material to ensure inventory levels are maintained Inspect all incoming raw material for accurate counts and adherence to quality standards. Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety Manage the completion of work orders ensuring adherence to delivery schedule and quality standards. Maintain daily & weekly cleanup routines to ensure professional shop appearance Ability to give/take work instruction and communicate effectively with others Assist with continuous process improvements
