Key responsibilities of this role include:
Quickly responding to emergency situations to provide competent careAdministering first aid treatment or life support to care to sick or injured personsOperating equipment, such as EKGs, external defibrillators, bag valve mask resuscitators, in advanced life support environmentsPerforming emergency diagnostic and treatment procedures, such as stomach suction, airway management, or heart monitoringObserving, recording, and reporting to physician the patient's condition or injury, the treatment provided, and the reactions to drugs or treatmentAssessing the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize medical proceduresAssisting RNs and Physicians in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process, diagnosis, planning implementation and evaluation
Key qualifications to be considered for this include:
High school diploma or GED requiredNational EMT registrationState EMS authority registration2 to 4 years of EMT or paramedic experience preferredCurrent AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS or can be obtained within 90 days of employment
