We are a rapidly-growing, leading Real Estate Investment and Property Management company headquartered near Hampton, Virginia. We have an immediate need for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and support the financial planning, analysis, forecast and budgeting of our projects.

Our ideal candidate will have 4+ years of experience in a senior level role and will oversee financial activities, preparing financial reports, analyzing financial data, and ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.

Our organization is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This position is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to contribute their skills to our fast-paced, high-growth real estate organization. The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in our finance department, providing expertise in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and general ledger management. This role will also involve preparing and analyzing financial statements, account reconciliation, and other financial accounting duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of real estate accounting principles and laws, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the financial accounting process, including the general ledger and financial statements.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts, coordination and completion of annual audits, and reviewing financial reports/support as necessary.
  • Develop and implement financial forecasting models and budgeting processes.
  • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Coordinate with other departments to gather, analyze, summarize, and prepare financial analyses, reports, and statements.
  • Develop and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting process.
  • Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Advanced degree or CPA certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial accounting, with a focus on real estate.
  • Proficiency in financial forecasting, budgeting, and financial statement analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
  • Expertise in financial accounting systems and tools, with a strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, laws, and regulations in the real estate industry.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, dependability, enthusiasm, and confidentiality.
