Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 per year

This position will have the opportunity to handle significant responsibility in all phases of litigation including motion practice, discovery, and case management, as well as handling hearings, depositions, arbitrations, and trials. The work may also involve non-litigated insurance coverage work, including research, writing opinion letters, and advising insurers on their obligations with respect to claims-handling and coverage issues.

We are seeking a seasoned Litigation Associate Attorney to join our dynamic team. This position is an excellent opportunity for a driven individual with a strong litigation background, specifically in insurance defense. As an integral part of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on complex litigation matters, provide legal advice, and represent clients in court proceedings. This role requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in the legal field.

Responsibilities

As a Permanent Litigation Associate Attorney, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  1. Representing clients in court
  2. Preparing for, taking and defending depositions of clients, opposing parties, and witnesses
  3. Studying and interpreting laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses.
  4. Presenting and summarizing cases to judges and juries.
  5. Preparing legal briefs and opinions, and filing appeals in state and federal courts of appeal.
  6. Analyzing the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents.
  7. Evaluating findings and developing strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases.
  8. Advising clients concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations.
  9. Gathering evidence to formulate defense or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case.

Qualifications

To be considered for the Litigation Associate Attorney position, you must have:

  1. Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of experience in litigation, with a specific focus on insurance defense.
  3. Admission to the State Bar of Oregon, Admission to Washington preferred.
  4. Familiarity with various legal documents and terminology.
  5. Proven experience as a legal counsel in business environments.
  6. Excellent negotiation and communications skills.
  7. Analytical ability and strong attention to detail.
  8. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  9. Proficiency in MS Office and ability to work with legal technology (court-filing computer systems, transcription software, etc.)
  10. Sound judgement and ability to analyze situations and information.
