Dental AssistantMinimum Starting Pay: $20/hourWe are seeking a patient-oriented and adaptable Dental Assistant who will prepare rooms and patients for quality dental treatment by ensuring all necessary established systems and processes are followed. This position is located at the Stephen Klein Wellness Center. The schedule is currently Monday-Friday 8:30a-4:30pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Dental Assistant Duties:Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocolsPrepare patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient and documenting check-in updates in electronic dental recordDocument dental care services by charting in patient electronic recordsProvide information to patients and employees by answering questions and requestsProvide materials by selecting, mixing, and placing materials on instruments for dentist's accessProvide instrumentation by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for dentist's access; suctioning; passing instruments using four handed techniquesProvide diagnostic information by exposing digital radiographic studies, pouring and trimming study castsClean and polish removable appliances; fabricate and polish temporary restorationsConserve dental resources by using equipment and supplies as neededManage patient flow and triage walk insEnsure operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; requesting and following up with repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; learning new equipment and techniques; recording maintenance in logsEnsure all lab and clinic supplies are ordered in a timely manner; maintain dental supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipate needed supplies; place and expedite orders for supplies; verify receipt of suppliesDocument receipt of dental supplies, dental lab work, repairs, and additional servicesEducate patients by giving post-operative instructionsCommunicate with Receptionist time /date /procedure of next appointment by documenting next visit information in electronic dental recordMaintain dental lab work area, keep cases in alphabetical order, and track turnaround times for lab cases; Communicate with lab when a case is overdue; Communicate with receptionist when patient cases are not delivered in a timely mannerWork in compliance with all medical policies and with standards such as OSHA, HIPAA, and funding body regulationEducation and Experience Minimum Requirements:
Minimum RequirementsCurrent Radiology certificateCurrent CPR (BLS) certificationDemonstrate teamwork, empathy, flexibility, sound judgment, patience, integrity, and organization in a fast paced environmentAttention to detail, safety, dependability, listening, and communication skillsDemonstrate cultural competency and take a trauma-informed and harm-reduction approach to health careCompetency in the use of Electronic Health Records and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and the internetPreferred Qualifications3 years of experience as a Dental Assistant or EFDAExperience in a clinical environmentPhysical requirementsAbility to work for long periods of time standing, sitting, bendingOccasional lifting of 40-50lbs and pushing of 5-20lbsA medium to high level of manual dexterityBenefitsProject HOME offers a competitive compensation package which includes health, prescription, dental, and vision coverage at minimum cost to our employees, company funded life and disability insurances, paid parental leave, spending accounts, and 401K plan with 100% matching contributions up to 5% of compensation.
