We are actively recruiting a full-time Controller to assist our real estate clients with various accounting needs as part of our growing Accounting Advisory Outsourced Services practice.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:Provide hands-on accounting operation assistance, including tenant billing and revenue recognition, CAM and expense reimbursements, A/R, A/P, debt, job costing and capitalization, and property operating expensesCoordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variancesHelp prepare and publish monthly financial statementsCoordinate the preparation of regulatory reportingResearch technical accounting issues for complianceLiaise with external auditorsSupport month-end and year-end close processEnsure quality control over financial transactions and financial reportingManage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filingsDevelop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controlsCultivate and maintain positive, productive, and professional relationships with colleagues and clientsMaintain integrity of corporate informationBalance multiple projects and responsibilitiesCommunicate effectively to all levels of engagement managementCreate and deliver work product that exceeds client expectationsKnowledge & Skills:
Proven work experience as a Controller or Assistant ControllerBachelor's degree in accounting requiredCPA preferredExperience with real estate operating portfolios and projects under constructionThorough knowledge of GAAP and tax accounting principles and proceduresProfessional service environment experience is a plusExperience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end closeTechnical competency in Yardi, MRI, or Real Page ERP systems is preferredAbility to assist in financial statement preparationStrong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)Ability to travel to clients and offices (25%)Track record of team leadership skills, e.g. mentoring junior team membersConfidentiality, integrity, and high ethical standards requiredTime management skills and ability to multi-taskAbility to work independently and take ownership of specific assignmentsProfessional demeanor and strong communication skills, both written and oral, with an emphasis on internal and external customer serviceAbility to have flexibility to meet client deadlinesEagerness and willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentNatural aptitude for problem solvingWhy DLA:
