The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department is seeking
Firefighter - Paramedics
to perform a variety of duties in the protection of life, property, and environment. A Firefighter- Paramedic responds to all types of fires, emergency medical, hazardous materials releases, rescue, and other calls.

LPFD utilizes the Firefighter Candidate Testing Center (FCTC) Statewide Eligibility List (SEL). All applicants must be on the FCTC SEL. Additional information on the FCTC SEL, testing dates, and locations can be located on the FCTC website:
A complete application includes:1) Passage of the Cal-JAC CPAT and the FCTC Written Test within one (1) year of application submittal.2) National Registry EMT-P Certification or California Paramedic License.3) Placement on the FCTC SEL.
Applicants who are not on the FCTC SEL and do not attach their CPAT card and EMT-P card to their application will not move forward in the process.Typical Duties
Responds to and performs skilled tasks at the scenes of emergency calls including: fire, medical emergencies, rescues, hazards identification, hazardous materials identification and spills, public assistance and service.Safely drives and operates vehicles, apparatus and equipment.Teaches fire safety, CPR, CERT and other classes and participates in public education demonstrations and activities.Performs emergency medical procedures as a paramedic.Minimum Qualifications
Education:Possession of a high school diploma, G.E.Dequivalent, or high school proficiency certificate.
Age: At least 18 years of age at date of final filing of application.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License, or a valid Class A or B Commercial California Driver's License and a valid Medical Examiner's Card must be maintained.Possession of a valid California DMV Firefighter Endorsement is required within six (6)months of employment.National Registry EMT-P Certification or California Paramedic License with current and continuous certifications.All certifications must remain current and not expire during first six months of employment.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
Fire department operations, such as rescue, firefighting, medical assistance, radio communications, Incident Command System (ICS), fire protection equipment and systems, fire behavior, hazardous materials and water systems.Federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards.Use and maintenance of firefighting equipment and apparatus.Emergency medical procedures and techniques at the Advanced Life Support (ALS) level as prescribed in Title 22-California Code of Regulations.Standards as defined by the State of California Firefighter I curriculum.Local geographical response factors.Basic mathematics, chemistry, and physics of fire behavior and hazardous materials.Safety practices and procedures.Computerized systems for maintaining data and preparing reports and correspondence.Ability to:React quickly and calmly to fight fires and perform emergency medical techniques and procedures.Perform rescues.Operate, maintain, inspect and repair vehicles, apparatus, equipment, and communication systems.Clean and maintain fire station and grounds.Conduct fire inspections (Annual Fire Company Inspection Program).Teach classes and participate in public education demonstrations and activities.Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing by using correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.Write comprehensive reports and maintain accurate records.Relate effectively to those contacted in the course of work.Learn local conditions, locations and regulations.Operate computers and use required software.Recruitment Process
