About the roleThe Vice President, Data Analytics is a highly visible role that will be responsible for uplevelling our existing Video on Demand (VOD) analytics while building out a center of excellence for all things media streaming insights. This leader will be joining a newly formed group within the Center for Data and Insights that will help Crunchyroll to enhance user engagement, optimize content delivery, and ensure that our streaming platform operates at peak performance. The candidate would have a passion for and knowledge of digital entertainment, media, and gaming. The candidate understands the complex ecosystem of content, media and/or video streaming and is passionate about generating insights using AI/applied statistics to support, guide and inspire decision makers through the next phase of global membership growth. A successful candidate will help us to review, evaluate and certify all aspects of content and product KPIs while building trust within the team as well as with product, content and engineering stakeholders in the first 90 days.
Core Areas of Responsibility
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
Develop and implement scalable analytics strategy to help VOD product, content and operations teams to make data informed decisions.
Lead and mentor up and coming leaders and high performing teams, fostering a culture of service, curiosity, courage, and continuous improvement.
Build strong relationships with all VOD stakeholders and senior leadership to be the voice of reason as well as to align team priorities with overall business OKRs.
Content and Streaming Analytics
Up level the insights capabilities to be at the leading edge of content and video analytics.
Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of data analytics tools and platforms that support streaming analytics.
Oversee the event collection, data modeling, and interpretation of video streaming data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
Optimize and monitor user journey and acquisition performance by analyzing funnel and user engagement metrics.
Utilize predictive analytics to anticipate and mitigate potential streaming issues, enhancing the user experience.
Content & User Insights
Collaborate with content curation and marketing teams to leverage insights for content recommendations, user retention, and personalized fan experiences.
Analyze viewer behavior and content performance to drive content strategy and programming decisions.
Design, build and monitor customer high value actions and align stakeholders to focus on products and services that improved LTV.
Testing and Experimentation
Design and oversee A/B testing and other experimentation frameworks to evaluate the impact of new features, content, and strategies on user experience and platform performance.
Analyze test results to determine effectiveness and provide data-driven recommendations for improvements and optimization.
Collaborate with product, engineering, and marketing teams to implement experimentation best practices and ensure rigorous testing methodologies are in place.
Reporting & Communication
Develop and present comprehensive decks, reports and dashboards to communicate key findings, performance metrics, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Act as the primary liaison between the CDI team and other departments, ensuring clear communication and alignment on data-driven initiatives.
In the role of Vice President, Data Analytics, you will report to the Senior Vice President, Data and Insights.

About You
You possess bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field; advanced degree (Master's/Ph.D.) preferred.
You have 15+ years of experience in data analytics, with at least 8 years in a leadership role, preferably within the video streaming or media industry.
You have a proven track record of developing and executing data analytics strategies that drive business results.
You have expertise in video streaming analytics, including understanding streaming protocols, video delivery networks, and relevant KPIs.
You embody proficiency in data analytics tools and platforms (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Looker).
You possess experience with A/B testing, multivariate testing, and other experimentation methodologies.
You have excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies.
You have strong leadership skills, with a demonstrated ability to build, lead, and inspire a high-performing team.
You possess experience with data privacy regulations and data governance best practices.
You have experience with Tableau, Superset, Google Analytics, Amplitude, MixPanel and other BI/analytics Tools.
You have experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and have expertise leveraging large data sets within the data warehouse/data lake (Amazon Redshift, Databricks, Snowflake).
