This highly visible role requires a media savant; a creative, proactive thinker who can work with a team to identify creative media campaigns, pitches, and solutions. The ideal candidate will have deep issues management experience, the ability to build relationships to garner trust in a matrixed organization, and maintain a positive attitude. They will be a key contributor in managing issues and crises and enhancing the media impact of the MT CPA organization, which is accountable for:Building and protecting brand reputation through paid, earned, and owned media and public affairs.Driving business growth through strategic marketing and commercial communications.Mobilizing business strategy, activating employee culture, and managing change through employee engagement.Positively impacting society through partnerships and programs around the world.Key Responsibilities:Above Brand Communications:Leading key proactive public relations campaigns and endeavors, working across MedTech business units to find larger trend stories and opportunities to elevate business priorities to key external audiences.Contributing to evolving global communications planning, key messaging, and other MedTech positioning/branding/media relations initiatives.Building close working relationships with J&J Global Corporate Media Relations and enterprise teams.Partnering successfully to assist in the identification, mitigation, and management of issues with the potential to impact MedTech reputation. Preparing reactive statements/media relations plans in response.Acting as primary spokesperson in managing issues and advancing MedTech reputation.Assisting and leading media relations strategizing around business development/M&A opportunities.Business Unit Enablement:Providing strategic counsel and partnership to Regional and Franchise Communications Leaders with respect to media relations, issues management, and external reputation.Acting as media thought partner and strategic advisor to business unit communications teams.Assisting in preparing/approving MedTech executives to positively engage with media.Governance:Leading and continuously improving the press release approval process and navigation throughout the matrix.Managing, brainstorming, and reviewing cross-platform award submission processes and ideation.Overseeing media monitoring, trend watching, and quarterly earnings media monitoring.Ideating and collaborating on key paid media ideas and integrations.Managing agency/consultants and assigned budget.QualificationsEducation:Bachelor's Degree Required; MBA or Graduate Studies a plus.Experience and Skills:Required:10 years of experience in media relations, public relations, and/or issues management.5 years of people/team leadership; experience hiring and managing external agency partners.A seasoned communications leader with a deep understanding of how to build reputation, drive growth, activate culture, and impact society through strategic communications.Demonstrated expertise in high-profile media relations, issues, and crisis situations.Strength in creative public relations/pitching/campaign work.Curiosity into new digital tools including project management software, generative AI, social/digital media, and measurement tools.Standout colleague with a team mentality.Creative and big thinker: collaborates effectively to develop and implement proactive media relations strategies.Experience working in a global function and a demonstrated understanding of global organizational challenges with the ability to navigate ambiguous situations.Demonstrates expert judgment in critical decision-making on matters impacting corporate reputation.Trusted advisor among peers and senior leaders.Compensation and Benefits:The anticipated base pay range for this position is $142,000 to $244,950.
