Responsible for interpretation and implementation of policies and/or programs related to Human Resources

which could include: talent acquisition, employment, employee benefits, employee relations, affirmative action, college policies and procedures, compensation, performance review management, training and talent development, and HRIS.

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:Responsible for interpretation and implementation of policies and/or programs related to Human Resources which could include: talent acquisition, employment, employee benefits, employee relations, affirmative action, college policies and procedures, compensation, performance review management, training and talent development, and HRIS.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinates talent acquisition activities including advertising and posting open positions, reference and background checks, and on-boarding and orientation. Hires personnel through temporary services.

Responds to employee relations matters and, in collaboration with Director or Executive Director, assists supervisors and managers with the development and presentation of performance improvement plans.

Assists with development and maintenance of government reporting such as: Affirmative Action Plan, EEOC report, Veterans Report, and IPEDS report.

Advises staff and retirees regarding benefits and resolves problems related to insurances. Interprets personnel policies and operating procedures for employees and managers on request.

Processes terminated/retired employees’ paperwork and responds to Unemployment Claims.

Conducts exit interviews as necessary.

Assists with coordination of campus/service area benefits and wellness plans.

Assists employees with workers’ compensation claims, including accident reporting and coordination with 3rd party vendor for services.

Assists with the annual performance review process and annual review of job descriptions.

Prepares full-time and adjunct faculty contracts and correspondence (offer letters, informational letters, etc.).

Assists with Human Resources recordkeeping and reporting functions including all employee records and files, appropriate salary, classification, position control, evaluation, and benefits data. Reviews and monitors personnel data entered in the HRS system to ensure validity and accuracy.

Coordinates the annual Employee Service Awards Program honoring employees celebrating service anniversaries and retirement.

Coordinates and assists with Talent Development and Training initiatives for the campus.

Assists with orientation of new employees.

Provides leadership and direction in creating and maintaining a campus environment conducive to inclusion, racial and cultural diversity.

Investigates and makes recommendations to Executive Director of Human Resources regarding any complaints of discrimination or harassment.

Maintains a working knowledge of Ivy Tech policies, procedures, issues and concerns relevant to increasing minority participation and retention.

Assists in developing programs, training sessions, workshops, and discussions to foster institutional awareness of, and commitment to, student, faculty, and staff diversity goals, including gender equity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all qualified candidates for appointment and promotion.

Serves on campus/service area committees related to Human Resources.

Participates in major campus events such as, but not limited to, the commencement ceremony.

Builds partnerships with community groups; may represent the College at community events and through community organizations.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:Director or Executive Director of Human Resources

Pay Range:$50,000-$55,000/year

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum two years related work experience required. One year of supervisory experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
