Reports to CEO, manages Membership staff.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a multi-pronged membership recruitment strategy aimed at increasing the Chamber's membership base.Design and execute membership campaigns, events, and initiatives to drive engagement and retention.Build the membership recruitment team, establishing processes, goals, and metrics for team and organizational success.Provide leadership and direction to maximize Chamber Ambassadors and Board of Directors Membership Committee in recruitment and retention of new and existing membership.Proactively seek out best practices and innovative methods for member recruitment and retention.Utilize membership management software to optimize features supporting recruitment and retention efforts.Ensure timely follow-up on renewals and invoices to maintain a minimum 90% member-retention rate.Conduct regular meetings with members to evaluate satisfaction and explore opportunities for enhanced engagement.Serve as a responsive liaison between members and leadership, effectively communicating member needs.Identify and target potential members through market research, networking, and outreach.Investigate, resolve, or escalate membership and payment issues as needed.Ensure all Chamber staff are well-versed in member benefits and equipped to communicate with them effectively.Identify and address any gaps in programming or communication related to member engagement.Maintain data accuracy and integrity in the member database, actively seeking opportunities to update and enhance member information for targeted outreach and engagement efforts.Chamber Membership CommunicationDevelop and implement an annual Marketing Strategy ensuring maximum Chamber brand recognition.Serve to enhance the Chamber’s visibility and promote it as a vital organization to the business community.Strategically assess member communication needs and collaborate with the Leadership Team to develop and deliver tailored content.Acquire proficiency in Chamber communication platforms, such as Growth Zone, Hootsuite, social media channels, and Canva, facilitating internal cross-training and support.Ensure staff and membership knowledge of utilizing Growth Zone effectively.Supervise the Production of Chamber Programming and EventsFostering member engagement is an utmost priority at the Chamber. We are committed to delivering a rich variety of opportunities for interaction, spanning from networking sessions, educational forums, industry-specific gatherings and C-Suite roundtables. Our current calendar is accentuated with annual signature events like the City Study Mission, Membership Connect and BBQ. With an ambitious vision, we're looking to expand our offerings to provide dynamic, useful and memorable experiences for our members.Ensure the implementation of current Chamber programs and events, including promotional communication, logistical planning, and on-site assistance as required.Supervise the Membership Experience Manager in producing Chamber networking events, webinars, trainings, ribbon cuttings and anniversary celebrations, ensuring seamless execution of these events.Utilize member feedback to identify opportunities for enhancing existing member programs and developing new events to meet evolving needs and preferences.Source and maximize sponsorship dollars and in-kind giving across event spectrum.Team member responsibilitiesParticipate with the Chamber team in providing adequate coverage and sharing office management duties.Available to work additional hours on occasion to ensure the timely completion of all responsibilities related to this position.Most of the duties are performed on-site at the Chamber office, at Chamber member sites and event locations.Ability to meet physical demands and perform the essential job functions within the work environment identified in this job description.This is an on-site position at the Chamber office.Essential QualificationsProven experience in building and growing a customer or membership base, ideally within a Chamber of Commerce, similar organization, or B2B Marketing.Extensive network of professional contacts and potential members.Experience in developing a sales or fundraising team, including recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising team members.Detail oriented with strong strategic planning and project management skills.Project and Process Management skills: Effectively manage priorities, processes, timelines, and organized record-keeping across a diverse array of overlapping projects.Display reliability and integrity in all endeavors, ensuring transparent communication regarding changes to agreed-upon priorities.Ability to gather and analyze information to solve problems in a timely manner.Comfortable adapting to short-term changes swiftly and calmly, effectively addressing unexpected challenges as they arise.Self-motivated, creative thinker, results-oriented, and able to work independently.Exceptional customer service mentality: Maintain a consistently high level of engagement, empathy, problem-solving, and communication.Possess excellent written, verbal, and phone communication skills, capable of effectively conveying ideas and information across an array of audiences.Demonstrate comfort and proficiency with technology, including platforms such as Teams, Outlook, basic social media tools, and contact management systems.Expected to become a resident expert in Chamber membership management software, specifically 'Growth Zone.'Commitment to the values of a positive team environment and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.Excitement to be at the forefront of the new era of the San Jose Chamber of Commerce!Job Type: Full-timePay: $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 per yearBenefits:401(k) matchingDental insuranceHealth insuranceHealth savings accountPaid time offVision insuranceSchedule:Monday to FridayExperience:membership / development: 7 years (Preferred)Ability to Commute:San Jose, CA 95113 (Preferred)Ability to Relocate:San Jose, CA 95113: Relocate before starting work (Required)Work Location: In person
