Overview

The Director of Sales is responsible for the daily sales efforts as well as soliciting new business to ensure the hotel meets and exceeds all revenue goals. This position is also responsible for soliciting new accounts and maintaining relationships with existing ones to meet and exceed revenue goals in rooms, food, beverage, and meeting room rental. Additionally, it is responsible for the overall positioning of the hotel, room rates, yield strategies and implementation, market performance and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies will include pricing, direct sales, market mix, and marketing efforts. Must have a dynamic leadership style and possess excellent communication and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.

Achieve or exceed Sales Goals related to top line revenue budgets.

Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel to previous, current and potential clients.

Handle account details so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented in Sales CRM. Coordinate various departments’ participation in servicing accounts through weekly sales meetings.

Respond to inbound leads and inquiries quickly and efficiently to close new business within set time parameters.

Experience selling to a variety of market segments including BT and Group.

Monitor group room blocks and pick up, generate detailed resumes for the operating departments, as needed.

Develop and conduct persuasive sales presentations to prospective clients.

Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.

Prepare and send weekly internal booking reports and ongoing file maintenance.

Participate in weekly sales meetings, revenue management calls, and other sales-related meetings as required.

Attend trade shows, community events and industry meetings as required.

Knowledge of market trends, competition and key customers of the hotel is a must.

Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

2+ years of past hotel sales experience preferred.

Good working knowledge of multiple brands and Hotel Sales Systems (e.g. STS, FOSSE, PEP, R&I) preferred.

Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English. Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Teams.

2+ years of past revenue management experience preferred.

Ability to execute appropriate action plans.

Must be a highly engaged, self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of budgets and forecasting preferred.

Able to set priorities, plan, organize, and delegate.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work effectively under time constraints and deadlines.

The ability to effectively communicate with supervisors, coworkers, clients, guests, and vendors.
