Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, uses extensive knowledge and skills obtained through formal education and/or work-related experience to act as an underwriter of consumer lending applications, particularly securities based lending, ensuring excellent service is provided, a profitable loan is originated, and all standard underwriting guidelines are met. This position requires the analysis of standard and more complex loan structures, documentation review, and collateral analysis by using independent judgment and making relatively complex decisions to approve loans generally within established policy. Works under limited supervision, accountable for quality/reliability of work performed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Underwrites credit package and approves securities based loan applications up to the loan amount authority established by the Raymond James Bank Board of Directors.

•Prepares recommendation for presentation to signors/loan committee, ensuring compliance with Raymond James Bank, state, and federal guidelines.

•Underwriting consists of completion of Credit Approval Memorandum, analysis of collateral, loan structure, and application documentation. May also include analysis of personal financial statement and business financial statement. Responsible to identify and mitigate credit and collateral exceptions.

•Periodically interacts with internal partners, clients, and financial advisors to provide professional client service upholding the Raymond James Service 1st philosophy.

•Exercises independent judgment with limited supervision of work functions while working directly with Lending Manager(s).

•Adheres to policies as established by management.

•Provides training/guidance to employees with less experience.

•Manages assigned files efficiently as to meet expectations of clients, financial advisors, and partners including sales.

•May interact with CPA's, financial advisors, and other parties to the transaction when necessary.

•Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

•Raymond James Bank underwriting guidelines.

•Principles, practices, concepts, and procedures of underwriting.

•Complex entity and trust structures and documentation.

•Not for profit lending.

•Letters of Credit structure and documentation.

•International client lending.

•Financial markets and securities based lending.

Skill in:

•Data analysis.

•Critical thinking and problem solving.

•Organizational skills, including a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

•Effective oral and written communications sufficient to convey details of loan request, exceptions, credit approval and underwriting/approval processes.

•Word processing, spreadsheet and typing sufficient to produce spreadsheets with basic formulas.

•Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications.

Ability to:

•Conduct analysis including basic math, competency with decimals and fractions.

•Analyze client documents, interprets findings, and may prepare reports of collateral position and credit worthiness.

•Articulate reasons behind decisions. Clearly communicate regarding decisions, exceptions, changes, and other relevant information.

•Organize, manage, and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities and deadlines.

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

•Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration with a minimum of three (3) years of consumer underwriting experience, preferably with experience in securities based lending.
