JOB DESCRIPTION This position may be eligible for a hybrid work environment (combination of remote work and in-office reporting), with the coordination and approval of the appropriate supervisor. This position is located in Columbus, OH. Position Title: Senior Financial Reporting Analyst Reports To: Assistant Vice President of Transmission Finance and Financial Planning FLSA Status: Exempt Basic Functions: Senior Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for accounting and finance support to American Municipal Power’s transmission subsidiary (AMP Transmission, LLC or “AMPT”) and preparing and managing the submission of the monthly financial reports to the AMP Executive Management Team, as well as AMP’s Board and Members. This includes providing thoughtful analysis, identifying action items and providing solutions in the presentation of financials. This position is also responsible for identifying variances to AMP’s budget and prior-year performance, preparing ad-hoc financial reporting, and assisting with internal and external audits as needed. Essential Functions: 1. Provides financial planning and analysis and accounting support for American Municipal Power’s transmission subsidiary (AMP Transmission, LLC or “AMPT”). This support includes recording transactions for the monthly close, preparing GAAP financial statements as well as regulatory financial statements and filings, assisting with transmission formula rate cost analysis and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) rate filings. 2. Perform day-to-day activities associated with the monthly financial close process, ensuring financial transactions are recorded and reported accurately and timely. 3. Support AMPT’s regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, the annual FERC filing in the form of the FERC Form 1, Actual Transmission Revenue Requirements (ATRR) filing, and Projected Transmission Revenue Requirements (PTRR) filing, among others. 4. Support AMPT with classifying transactions in accordance with the FERC Uniform System of Accounts, establishing asset capitalization policies, monitoring compliance with internal controls, and other financial matters. 5. Responsible for analyzing, understanding and tracking monthly results including, but not limited to, profitability, balance sheet, cash flow and key performance metrics. 6. Provides ad-hoc analytical and project support to the AMP Accounting team. 7. Proactively develops and maintains technical knowledge in specialized area(s), remaining up to date on current trends and best practices. 8. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. 2. MBA and/or CPA preferred, but not required. 3. 3-7 years related accounting experience is required. 4. Previous experience in utility accounting is preferred, but not required. Knowledge of the FERC Uniform System of Accounts, Transmission Rate Making process, and experience in Regulated Property, and General Accounting concepts is preferred. 5. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board’s (FASB) codification is preferred. 6. Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting standards, financial accounting standards board, and generally accepted governmental accounting standards. 7. Must demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership and communication skills. 8. Must be flexible and willing to work in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment; communicate effectively with all levels of the organization; and be a collaborative and strategic thinker with a strong financial leadership perspective and organizational agility. 9. Advanced knowledge and expertise using Excel and ERP systems.
