Network Engineer

Overview Network Engineer Onsite | Huntsville, AL | 5 Days a Week Active Top Secret Clearance Required Please note that this position is for a potential future need and is not currently open or finalized. Summary At Precision Solutions, we are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and planning advanced network systems and providing detailed specifications for architecture, hardware, and software solutions that meet business needs. Responsibilities Design and plan network systems for LANs, WANs, and WLANs to ensure efficiency and scalability Develop detailed schematics and provide specific recommendations for hardware and software selection, implementation, and capacity planning Conduct network system testing and provide troubleshooting for complex problems as they arise Maintain expertise in networking areas such as routers, switches, firewalls, content filtering, VoIP, and Video Teleconferencing Evaluate and report on new network technologies to enhance network capabilities Provide mentoring and leadership to less experienced engineers through tech talks and hands-on assistance Be available for after-hours maintenance and participate in the engineering on-call rotation Requirements 5 years of network related experience is required Understanding of technologies and protocols such as Ethernet switching (Spanning tree, VLANs, 802.1Q), Wireless Networking, Routing (BGP, OSPF), IPv6, Firewalling, DNS, DHCP, and Quality of Service (DSCP, COS) Firewall configuration and management experience, particularly with Juniper, Cisco, or Palo Alto firewalls, is desired Some programming experience with scripting languages such as Perl, JavaScript, or Python is a plus Preferred Requirements Certifications from Cisco or Juniper at the CCNP or JNCIS level is desired but not required A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or another related STEM field is preferred Education/Certification Requirements None Clearance Requirements Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; an active Top Secret clearance is required.
