Summary:
Responsible for testing, sampling, measuring and inspection of raw materials, machined parts, final product and processes for quality, deviations, or defects according to specifications.
Job Responsibilities:Inspect and perform detailed dimensional evaluation of raw material, machined components, and/or finished product to determine conformance to specifications and established inspection criteria and procedures.Timely and accurately document inspection acceptability or non-conformance per documented procedures.Work from blueprints, diagrams, and customer specifications where general information is provided; requires some independent judgmentEffectively utilize measurement devices including micrometers, calipers, and other general inspection equipmentPeriodically calibrate precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc. using gauge blocks or other suitable tools which are in the calibration system and traceable to NISTPerform and document first article inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements.Perform visual cosmetic inspection, often using magnification aids or microscope.May devise inspection setups where standard checking equipment is not available and special inspection tools and layouts are requiredConsult with Quality Assurance supervisor/management personnel for disposition of questionable materials.Ensure quarantined or rejected materials are properly identified, segregated and dis-positioned.Provide timely, accurate and friendly service to all internal and external customersMaintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly conditionComply with all quality requirements while continually maintaining and improving the effectiveness of MacKay's quality management systemSupport and participate in department goals as well as company goalsLook for opportunities to learn and share your knowledge and skillsPunctual attendance; at your work area at shift startTreat others with respect and maintain a professional attitudeBe honest in all dealingsOther duties as assignedJob Requirements:
2-3 years inspection experience, preferably in a precision manufacturing environmentDemonstrated ability to properly utilize precision measuring devices including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM, bore & pitch gaugesNatural or corrected vision to at least 20/25 and ability to differentiate between colorsStrong attention to detail and ability to multi-taskKnowledge of GD&T and ISO 9001 principlesIntermediate computer navigation skills, proficient in MS Office: Outlook, Word
