POSITION SUMMARYThe Human Resource Assistant is an integral member of the Human Resources Team, reporting directly to the Field Human Resources Manager, and actively collaborates with our managers, supervisors and associates. This field-based position supports a business unit of 400 associates. This position is responsible for proactively developing relationships and executing on all aspects of the human resources function with emphasis in the areas of payroll, diversity, inclusion and engagement, associate and labor relations, and compliance. The Human Resources Assistant will generate innovative solutions that drive processes and programs that help to ensure associates are equipped to achieve exceptional results, while at the same time realizing their professional goals and objectives.Major Responsibilities Include:Associate and Labor RelationsMake contributions that reinforce a workplace that mirrors our Employee Value PropositionEnsure a positive Associate Experience, including Onboarding and New Hire OrientationParticipate in investigations, prepare summaries and make recommendations as directed by the HR ManagerDiversity, Inclusion, and EngagementChampion and promote diversity in all aspects of human resource practicesWork with managers to create and maintain a diverse and inclusive workplaceInfluence leaders in the execution and sustainability of associate engagement action plansComplianceEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, FCRA, EEO, and FLSA)Communicate, interpret and consistently apply company policies and proceduresEnsure compliance with all Human Resource processesConduct regular compliance reviews at location level (Wage and Hour, etc.)Partner with HR Manager and Safety team to ensure safe workplacePayrollEnsure all timecards are completed and signed off every weekWork with Operations and Engineering to ensure incentives are correctly input for payrollEnsure compliance with all Human Resource processesGeneral DutiesProvides support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance, and data entryAssist with all on-boarding and orientation programs, updates record with new hires and assists with I-9 complianceProvide excellent customer service as a reliable and effective point of contact for associates, creating HR correspondence and communications, and responding to basic associate inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programsGathers, assembles, and distributes both standard and customized reports to HR and managers regularly and upon request.Other projects and tasks as assignedQualifications:Bachelors degree preferredSHRM or HRCI Certification(s) preferred (i.e. PHR)2+ years of Human Resources experienceCreative, independent self-starter who excels in a fast paced environmentAgile and quick learner, enjoys collaborative projects and continuous educationAbility to understand the business operationsMust be a confident communicator, (including written, and verbal skills)Ability to effectively manage projects to timely completionSome knowledge of employment law and regulatory compliance issues helpful (deeper knowledge may be required for certain states, such as CA, MA, etc.)Must possess a high level of honesty, integrity, and ethicsAbility to work the required schedule, work at the specific location requiredMust complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screeningRegular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the jobWillingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.Physical Requirements:The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
