Role Responsibilities:
Manage and Train Team:
- Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to ensure team members' growth and development.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
- Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
Monthly Financial Closing and General Accounting:
- Oversee the monthly financial close process, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Prepare, review, and produce accurate financial statements.
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Internal Controls and Audit:
- Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Ensure the accuracy of financial data through regular audits and reviews.
- Coordinate with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Identify areas for improvement in internal controls and implement corrective actions.
Financials and Reporting:
- Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and stakeholders.
- Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information for financial reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Accounting Experience:
- 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in handling financial statements, general ledger management, and reconciliations.
- Proven track record of conducting audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Certification:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - active, inactive, or in-progress status is highly preferred.
Leadership Experience:
- Previous experience in managing or supervising an accounting team.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
Industry Experience:
- Experience in the energy or utilities industry or a related field.
