Role Responsibilities:

  • Manage and Train Team:

    • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals.
    • Provide training, guidance, and support to ensure team members' growth and development.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
    • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Monthly Financial Closing and General Accounting:

    • Oversee the monthly financial close process, ensuring all deadlines are met.
    • Prepare, review, and produce accurate financial statements.
    • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
  • Internal Controls and Audit:

    • Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
    • Ensure the accuracy of financial data through regular audits and reviews.
    • Coordinate with external auditors during audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
    • Identify areas for improvement in internal controls and implement corrective actions.
  • Financials and Reporting:

    • Prepare and analyze financial reports for management and stakeholders.
    • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data.
    • Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary information for financial reporting.
    • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Accounting Experience:

    • 3-5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
    • Demonstrated expertise in handling financial statements, general ledger management, and reconciliations.
    • Proven track record of conducting audits and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
  • Educational Background:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited institution.
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Certification:

    • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - active, inactive, or in-progress status is highly preferred.
  • Leadership Experience:

    • Previous experience in managing or supervising an accounting team.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Industry Experience:

    • Experience in the energy or utilities industry or a related field.
