Position: Accounting Manager - Consultant
Location: Hybrid (Tarrytown, NY)

  • Schedule: Full-time, hybrid (3 days onsite / 2 days remote).
  • Compensation: $45-55/hr

Our client, a respected nonprofit organization, is seeking an Accounting Manager / Consultant to oversee and enhance their financial operations. This nonprofit is dedicated to driving positive change through volunteerism and civic engagement, with a mission to build a vibrant, resilient, and equitable community. Position Overview:

As the Accounting Manager / Consultant, you will lead financial planning and management for an organization with an operating budget of nearly $2M and a team of 16. You will ensure financial and operational integrity while overseeing IT, HR, and facilities. Your role is essential in supporting the organization's mission by creating efficient and scalable financial processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Finance:

  • Manage the organization's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and reporting.
  • Strengthen financial systems, internal controls, and processes for greater efficiency.
  • Prepare monthly variance reports and annual budgets.
  • Lead the annual audit process and ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Manage payroll, bank relationships, and investments.
  • Provide financial reports to the leadership team and Board of Directors.

Grants Management:

  • Develop budgets for grant proposals and ensure financial compliance with grant requirements.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports to monitor grant performance.

What You Bring:

  • 8-10 years of financial management experience, with at least 5 years in an operational role.
  • Nonprofit sector experience, including knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and develop strong internal processes.
  • Expertise in financial analysis and the ability to communicate complex data clearly.
  • Strategic thinking with a long-term vision for financial and operational growth.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills.
  • A collaborative management style that fosters teamwork.
