Property Accountant Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in property accounting or a similar role within the real estate industry.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, particularly as they apply to real estate management.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Yardi or MRI experience = major plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Property Accountant Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain financial statements for multiple properties, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, including month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, including processing invoices, payments, and tenant billings.
- Monitor and analyze property budgets, identifying variances and making recommendations for cost control.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for assigned properties.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies, including lease agreements and reporting requirements.
- Work closely with property managers and other team members to provide accurate financial information and support decision-making.
- Prepare and submit required tax filings and other financial reports.
