will report directly to the Co-CIOs, or their designee.LOCATIONOn-site position in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.POSITION SUMMARYThe Director of Portfolio Strategy & Research will report to the Co-CIOs, or their designee, and work closely with other investment and wealth management professionals in the office to determine the strategic investment goals and priorities for firm and the firms clientele. The primary responsibility of this position is to execute, oversee, monitor, and optimize the construction of asset allocation models and client portfolios, conducting manager due diligence across all relevant asset classes, as well as research on new and existing investment products and strategies. This individual will assist in the preparation of client and prospective client meetings, presentations, quarterly / yearly portfolio reviews, and trade execution. The Director of Portfolio Strategy & Research will also be responsible for the firms global market outlook, quarterly newsletters, white papers, and providing thought leadership and insights to the firms clients, prospective clients, and employees.This individual will also work directly with the PW Advisors when needed to understand the clients investment policy and objectives and will review/refine strategies and plans to optimize their respective portfolios in order to successfully accomplish their goals. A summary of the key responsibilities of the position includes:ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThis individual will also work directly with the PW Advisors when needed to understand the clients investment policy and objectives and will review/refine strategies and plans to optimize their respective portfolios in order to successfully accomplish their goals. A summary of the key responsibilities of the position includes:Manage a comprehensive investment research, due diligence and selection process across all relevant asset classes; travel as appropriate to visit investment managers; formally review and evaluate investment manager performance; challenge ideas and maximize the level of service provided by investment consultant(s) and outside managers; negotiate and monitor consultant and manager fees and commitments/agreements;Continuously improve the portfolio management platform and processes to ensure achievement of the firms and client's long-term goals; determine relevant investment platform infrastructure requirements; develop financial processes, procedures, and controls to ensure the efficient operation of the investment function; streamline reporting of results to clients and select appropriate platforms to enhance the controls, monitoring and reporting of the portfolio;Build network and relationships to source new investment ideas and potential managers; identify synergistic opportunities to leverage resources and optimize portfolio performance;Monitor and review investment allocation, strategies and performance on an ongoing basis to ensure alignment with firm and client investment objectives; proactively identify and make recommendations for changes as appropriate;Work closely with the PW Team to create, implement and monitor optimal structures for relevant investments that take into account tax and estate planning considerations and other factors;Identify client investment related needs, issues and opportunities; recommend appropriate solutions; communicate and advise the PW Team regarding significant macroeconomic and capital market trends and issues; andSelectively attend industry and investment / family office conferences; proactively network, establish and leverage relationships with other family offices and industry contacts to identify new co-investment opportunities; vet and recommend potential co-investments and minority investments appropriate for the client portfolios;Work with internal and/or external legal counsel to review relevant contracts and agreements; conduct liquidity analyses/projections with PW Advisors and define and implement portfolio planning to ensure efficiency;Work with the CEO, Co-CIOs and other company executives to determine private equity co-investment opportunities and/or minority investment objectives of client portfolios; if applicable, actively participate in managing and monitoring co-investments and minority investments;Serve as a strategic thinking partner and assume critical trusted advisor role.QUALIFICATIONSThe

Director of Portfolio Strategy & Research

must be an experienced investment professional who has proficiency and a demonstrated investment track record of success across a broad spectrum of asset classes, including hedge funds and other alternative investments. The ideal candidate will also have experience interfacing with significant ultra-high net worth client investment portfolios. The ideal candidate must have the intellectual capacity, communication/interpersonal skills and professional integrity to lead the firms investment function and to represent the organization positively with all constituencies, internally and externally. The ideal background will include:Undergraduate degree; advanced degrees and/or professional certifications preferred (MBA, JD, CFA);5-10+ years of relevant investment experience, including working in the investment research/wealth management industry; investment experience should include all aspects of the investment process, including investment policy, asset allocation, due diligence, multi-asset class manager/strategy selection, portfolio management and ongoing portfolio monitoring;Strong thematic investment acumen and understanding of investment concepts and strategies; broad exposure across all asset classes, including in-depth knowledge and experience in alternative investments;Proven track record of success in managing investment due diligence processes and in coordinating internal and external resources (accounting, legal, investigative, custodian, consultant, etc.);Demonstrated skills and experience in strategic asset allocation and investment management for individuals, family partnerships, trusts and other entities; demonstrated track record of success in constructing and managing client investment portfolios;Effective in presenting investment viewpoints and recommendations to investors; strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills;Strategic and tactical thinker who anticipates issues, such as changing macroeconomic trends and global markets, and recommends actions/solutions on a proactive basis; inquisitive mind/nature;Strong understanding of financial and investment reporting; working knowledge of legal, accounting and tax considerations related to investments;Prior experience working with/advising ultra-high net worth clients and building customized sophisticated portfolios; understands and can relate well to family office clients and their unique needs; highly proactive approach to anticipating and serving client needs; service heart;Demonstrated leadership abilities; flexible and adaptable with a roll-up-your-sleeves approach and mentality; works collaboratively to achieve objectives; outgoing, businesslike personality;Demonstrated effectiveness in developing credibility and trusted relationships with family clients, colleagues and external consultants/advisors;Strong common sense and judgement; self-confident individual who is able to see multiple sides of an issue, engage in interactive discussion and provide objective recommendations with conviction to support decisions; diplomatic in interactions;Intellectually curious; strong investment, financial and business acumen;Highly motivated, results oriented individual with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement; high EQ and self-awareness
