The work we do every day saves lives and builds hope for the future. Texas Institute for Surgery of Dallas provides detoxification of drug and alcohol addiction treatment services. Seeking a FT Nights Detox nurse to provide medical care in our Medically Monitored Detox Unit in Dallas, TX. This position offers nurses to work autonomously in conjunction with our Medical Director and other team members. Our work is mission-driven, supported by a strong culture of teamwork and a compassionate environment that is the foundation of the organization.JOB SUMMARY:Executes prescribed treatments and medication interventions as established for each patient.Implements nursing care in accordance with medical philosophies, policies, and procedures as well as any other regulating bodies to ensure quality patient care.Conducts detox admissions and provides patient care during the patient detoxification process, including pre-screening of patients, obtaining physical assessment data and health history, administering detox treatment plans, and monitoring of patients. They administer medications to manage withdrawal symptoms and make sure patients feel comfortable, supported, and well taken care of throughout the detox process.Records treatment activities and patient observations in patient records accurately and timely; completes paperwork requirements as needed in an accurate and timely manner.Communicates with nursing supervisors, nursing staff, and clinical staff regarding patients' treatment and status.Follows established policies and procedures for all medical emergencies (i.e., convulsions, suicides, Delirium Tremens, etc.).Crosstrain in the In-Patient unit.Maintains a safe and sanitary environment applying infection control techniques and universal precautions.Adheres to all policies and procedures regarding patient information protection and HIPPA.Oversees non-licensed nursing staff as instructed by and under the direction of the facility's Nursing Director.Participates in all assigned staff meetings, staff development, and training as required.Other duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Detoxification treatment facility setting; requires walking throughout the facility.QualificationsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Associate's degree in nursing requiredLicensed as a Registered Nurse to practice in the state of employment.Desire to work with clients suffering from disease of addiction preferredExperience in substance abuse treatment is preferredBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification requiredAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) requiredCertified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN) preferred.
