Come join us .Huntsman Corporation is seeking a Senior Counsel, Environmental, Health, and Safety, located in The Woodlands, Texas. This position will report to the Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Services.Job ScopeHuntsman places care for health, safety, and the environment at the forefront of our operations. Your work will be crucial in maintaining our ability to operate facilities that are safe, clean, efficient, and compliant, all while upholding sustainable and responsible practices. In this role, you will have a tangible impact on our Company, the industry, and the communities in which we operate. This is the most senior EHS role in the Company's Global Legal Department.The successful candidate will possess the technical skills to directly handle, manage or supervise a wide range of environmental matters. He or she will also possess the organizational awareness to work with multiple stakeholders at both the corporate headquarters and the Company's manufacturing sites around the world, including the Senior Vice President for Environmental, Health & Safety and Manufacturing Excellence, the Business Divisions' manufacturing and operations teams, site directors and their staff, outside counsel, and EHS consultants. The candidate will serve as a member of the Company's EHS Global Leadership Group and the EHS Americas Leadership Team.In summary, as the Senior Counsel - Environmental, Health & Safety, you will:Advise subject matter experts, managers, executives and other clients on a broad range of state, federal, and international regulatory-driven matters, including within EHS subject matter-related areas of air, waste, water, remediation, personal and process safety management, product safety and stewardship, sustainability and climate, and security.Support strategic corporate and functional initiatives, lead EHS-related investigations, perform EHS audit reviews, lead and conduct EHS due diligence associated with acquisitions and divestitures, lead and/or manage complex regulatory enforcement and compliance matters;Support strategic litigation challenging regulatory actions taken by EPA and other federal and state environmental agencies, and provide public comments on agency rulemakings and policy initiatives;Support development and implementation of effective corporate governance practices in the EHS areas, engage in global EHS policy development, and manage legacy EHS-related matters;Collaborate with legal and finance teams to develop, manage, monitor, and forecast the Legal Department’s EHS budget and plan for future financial requirements; andOversee legal vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and manage invoicing to ensure financial efficiency and compliance.QualificationsYou must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.Minimum QualificationsJD from an accredited U.S. law school together with demonstrated academic excellence (required) and 8-12 years of experience at a highly regarded law firm and/or in the legal department of a large multi-national company.Demonstrated knowledge, competence and experience in multiple environmental disciplines and the professional judgment needed to operate as the Company's most senior subject matter expert and legal resource on a global basis.Proven capability to operate in a dynamic corporate environment that puts a premium on teamwork and cross-functional collaboration, and will include periods of compressed deadlines, high demand, and occasional long hours.Strong analytical, problem solving, negotiating, and communication skills are essential, as is experience in writing diligence memoranda, preparing case summaries, and explaining complex legal issues in plain English.Demonstrated project management skills.Licensed to practice and in good standing with an applicable state bar (required).Personal Attributes:Highly ethical, able to maintain confidentiality, and handle highly sensitive information;Outstanding written and verbal communication skills;Judgment, tact, collegiality, and cooperation when dealing with people at all levels, inside and outside the business;Practical, proactive, business-savvy, and highly motivated;Ability to collaborate across functional groups and develop mutually collaborative relationships;Ability to influence individuals outside direct reporting relationships (both up and down in the organization); andAbility to work with a culturally and linguistically diverse group of individuals who sit in multiple locations across the globe.Skills and knowledgeExperience working in a global and/or matrixed organization a plus;Demonstrated team player with developed sense of both situational and organizational awareness; andMust be able to handle broad ranging workload, prioritize, work independently, manage expectations and be well organized.Huntsman is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace and is an affirmative action employer.
