Job purpose

The Design Coordinator works under direct supervision of the Director of Design. Primary responsibilities include preparing drawings with Computer Aided Design (CAD) or Building Information Modeling (BIM) and collaboratively assisting in other aspects of plan preparation such as information gathering and data transfer.

The candidates should be interested in working on the design and construction documentation of a variety of Design-Build projects, and have the knowledge, skills and abilities to mostly independently manage the concurrent development of multiple small, turn-key projects in design. We are looking for candidates who are problem solvers, with enough professional experience to be able to navigate architecture projects mostly independently, and with enough personal maturity to support the role with the diligence, self management and commitment required to see projects through, and with optimism and enthusiasm for the challenges and call to leadership inherent in Design and Construction.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Utilized design software, including Revit and AutoCAD, to assist in the preparation of construction details, design plans, reports and meeting exhibits.
  • Transfers information in numerical, written and sketched, or electronic format from sources such as concept designs, legal descriptions, survey data, aerial photographs and computer files to final plans and maps.
  • Visualizes and illustrates concept or designs in 2 or 3 dimensions. Utilizes mathematics including algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
  • Interacts with Engineers, Project Managers and Estimators to obtain pertinent information necessary to create and coordinate design drawings.
  • Performs tasks under close supervision or from detail procedures
  • Assist Project Engineers with operational tasks such as submittals, shop drawings, etc.
  • Attend design coordination progress meetings.
  • Participate in Design Department meetings, improvement initiatives and continuing education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Associates Degree in Applied Science (AAS) or equivalent technical degree.

3-5 years of experience in related field.
