JOB GOALS: To coordinate speech and language pathology services, to work with staff in understanding the intervention process, and assist in planning and implementing "Best Practices" for
providing interventions for all students.

To provide leadership and supportive services to administrative, instructional, and related service personnel so that high quality educational programs may be realized.

To understand Special Education Operating Standards and adhere to these guidelines.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Instructional Management

1. Implements and assists with special educational instructional processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes.

2. Holds meetings with staff members on an individual or group basis in order to facilitate communication and evaluate instruction.

3. Screens children for speech/language problems when indications of problems are presented.

4. Performs speech/language and/or hearing assessments as required.

5. Collaborates with classroom teachers and staff members to implement therapy
procedures that will improve student performance in the classroom.

6. Maintains and uses diagnostic data and student records to determine progress toward achieving goals and objectives.

7. Takes initiative in I E P development when a child receives speech/language pathology services.

8. Implements instruction at appropriate levels.

9. Conducts therapy with appropriate selection of activities, maintaining focus and pacing.

10. Guides the students' remediation processes toward the achievement of goals and objectives as stated in the IEP.

11. Provides clear and timely information to parents/ caregivers, and colleagues regarding classroom expectations, student progress, and ways they can assist learning.

12. Identifies possible referrals for support services based on diagnostic/evaluative data.
