WDP welcomes an experienced Structural Steel/Welding Inspector to join our Testing & Inspection division located in Manassas, Virginia. A primary objective of the division is to provide quality assurance, construction inspection and materials testing services to document that projects are being constructed in accordance with approved plans and specifications.
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in structural steel/welding inspection, as well as certifications from WACEL or AWS in Structural Steel. The successful candidate will apply previous experience and knowledge of industry standards to execute inspection procedures for a variety of structural steel projects in both the public and private sectors.
The candidate should have direct experience and working knowledge of:
Steel shop drawing submittals and plan and specification reading/familiarity; Steel framing members such as columns and beams; Bolting and tensioning requirements depending on connection type; Column plumb and anchor bolt requirements; Decking installation requirements and shear stud installation; Joist bearing, including required weld sizes and lengths for different types of joists and joist girders, as well as requirements for bearing plates; Interpretation of contracts and steel shop drawings; AWS workmanship standards, weld profiles, and symbols utilized by designers; Light Gauge Metal Framing/Cold Formed Metal Framing and connections; Jobsite safety, especially during steel erection and inspection, and fall prevention when walking steel at various heights. This is a full-time, hourly (non-exempt position) with a competitive benefits package:

Requirements
5+ years relevant work experience WACEL Structural Steel or AWS Certification. OSHA 10, CWI, NDT Level I or II are preferred, but not required. Ability to work in the field and to travel depending on job assignment Ability to work overtime, evenings and/or weekends, depending on work load Solid communication skills - both verbal and written Excellent professional references Valid, current driver's license with an acceptable driving history Authorized to work in the United States with no restrictions
