Job Purpose:
Tax and financial planning expert who helps advisors solve complex tax, trust, estate, and financial planning related issues for high-net-worth clients. Responsible for assisting advisors in meeting client needs by researching and providing answers to advanced tax and financial planning related issues. Firm expert who can be called upon by advisors to attend client meetings to explain complex tax, trust, estate, and financial planning related issues. Also responsible for coordinating and reviewing tax planning, and tax return preparation for clients.

RESEARCHES AND SUGGESTS SOLUTIONS TO CLIENT PLANNING AND TAX ISSUES.
Responsible for researching various client planning issues and recommending creative solution options. Coordinates implementation of solutions with appropriate professionals. SERVE AS INTERNAL TECHNICAL EXPERT.
Support complex high-net-worth client relationships as a technical financial planning, trust, estate, and tax expert, including through direct interaction and delivery of advice to clients. Provide tax planning, trust, and estate planning technical expertise to complex high-net-worth client relationships. Work and coordinate with other JFS technical experts throughout the firm. Serve as liaison between trust companies, trustees, and JFS clients trust accounts. PROVIDES TAX SERVICES . Prepares and reviews year-end tax planning arrangements. Completes tax returns and reviews and signs tax returns prepared by other staff members. FUNCTIONS AS A TAX RETURN SIGNOR . For select tax returns, provides final review, and takes overall responsibility for quality and accuracy of tax returns prior to sending them to the IRS and state and local taxing authorities. MONITORS TAX LAW AND FINANICAL PLANNING CHANGES AND DEVELOPS PLANNING STRATEGIES.
Reads and interprets tax law and financial planning changes. Translates changes into understandable, user-friendly language and helps JFS advisors and professional staff with developing effective client strategies designed to provide benefits to clients. COMMUNICATES ADVANCED FINANCIAL PLANNING AND TAX RELATED ITEMS TO CLIENTS AND STAFF . Educates JFS advisors and staff members on advanced financial planning and tax topics. Provides periodic internal financial planning newsletters regarding pertinent financial planning and tax related items. Also contributes financial planning and tax related content to JFS quarterly newsletters for clients and COIs. Periodically participates in JFS webinars to discuss complex financial planning and tax topics. Reviews financial planning related blog posts and content for technical accuracy. SERVES AS A MENTOR TO ASSOCIATE ADVISORS AND TAX STAFF . Provides coaching and guidance to Associate Advisors and Tax Staff to help develop junior members of the firm. Serves as a financial planning and tax resource for junior members of the firm. CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT . Interacts with other employees to promote smooth workflow, identify and resolve problems, advance the firm's image and accomplish results which support the mission of JFS Wealth Advisors. Supervisory Responsibilities: Assists in coaching and mentoring Associate Advisors and Tax Staff members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university majoring in accounting or finance. Minimum Enrolled Agent, CPA preferred. CFP and Master of Taxation preferred. Must have experience functioning as the final signor for individual and trust tax returns. Minimum of 8 years of financial planning, and tax planning and preparation experience. 3 or more years supervisor experience is preferred. Extensive experience with tax planning, trusts, and estate planning. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CPA and/or Enrolled Agent license. CFP® certificate or willing to get one. Valid driver's license.
