We are actively seeking an experienced Structural Engineer - Diver to join our Honolulu office and local dive team. As the successful Engineer, you will be working with a professional engineering dive team that provides consulting services to clients - primarily in the Hawaii area. Occasional travel to other areas throughout the U.S. and abroad will also be required but most evenings, you will be home. The principal function of this position is to be part of a team that evaluates marine structures and ports through above and underwater engineering inspections, follow-on report preparation and development of structural repair designs. You will also perform high-level analysis and design. The firm provides clients worldwide with customized service and a level of excellence that have become the firm's hallmark in several primary practice areas - ports and harbors; coastal, environmental and water resources; urban waterfronts and marinas; transportation, bridges and rail; inspection and rehabilitation; and energy.Duties and responsibilities:Participates in site investigations of waterfront infrastructure such as marine structures, marinas, ports, container terminals, water control structures, etc.Assists the team so that scopes of work are fulfilled and that contracted deliverables are submitted on schedule and within budgetWorks collaboratively with all members of the inspection teams, design teams, and other engineering disciplinesAnalyzes aged or damaged components of marine structures to assess load capacityPerforms inspections utilizing commercial diving methods and techniques while adhering to field operation standards and safety proceduresActively assists in writing technical reports and manuals as neededUnderstands and maintains proficiency with State, Federal, and local agency design standards and criteria, practices, and policiesPrepares plans, specifications, cost estimates and supporting documentationAssists in proposals and cost estimatesPerforms other duties as requiredQualifications:Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural EngineeringMaster's degree in Structural Engineering preferred but not requiredProfessional Engineer licensure required. License in Hawaii is desired or having the ability to obtain via reciprocity within 6 months of hireCertified Diver - ADCI, HSE, DCBC, IMCA or ADAS5 to 10 years of related experienceDive Supervisor certification preferredNHI/NBIS bridge inspection qualifications a plusProven experience in performing above/below water engineering inspectionsPossess a valid driver's license in good standingAbility and willingness to travel as required. Most work is local/regional; however, travel can be up to 1 to 2 weeks in duration if neededBoater Safety Card preferredPossess DBIDS card or eligibility to successfully pass background check to secure Department of Defense DBIDS card and other badges required by clientsPossession of or ability to obtain within a couple months of hire a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)Current First Aid, CPR, AED, and Oxygen Administration certification preferredSelected candidate must consent to and pass a post-off/pre-employment drug screeningAll new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171Moffatt & Nichol uses E-Verify and employment is contingent upon the legal ability to obtain employment in the U.S. and to present the required documentation at hireBase salary range:$112,500 to $150,000* based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.
