About the RoleThe Manager, Content Design (MCD) is responsible for setting the standard for the user experience of Ring’s physical and digital product suite through content design and writing; meeting customer needs throughout their shopping and learning journeys. The MCD leverages their expertise to lead a team in developing high-impact content strategies—turning them into core language systems, information architectures, and user-friendly education for a cohesive product experience at scale. They synthesize complex customer, market, and business data to inform customer experience and business strategy; helping the team identify pain points and drive improvements for comprehension, accessibility, and conversion.

This position requires west coast working hours, with limited domestic and international travel for in-person meetings, events, and workshops.

About YouYou are a critical thinking self-starter; experienced with team management and leading through an established and successful global content design system in a scale-up environment. You tailor products with human-centered thinking—considering every type of user and detail—to ship on-time and on-brief. You bring an expertise of verbal identity and interaction to support complex data and learning needs. Above all, you are focused on solving real problems for real people through collaborative research, content design, and iteration.

Key job responsibilities

Define and evangelize global and regional content guidelines and best practices to standardize frameworks (e.g., conceptual modeling, information architectures) and methodologies to scale design (e.g., systems, patterns, standards, methods, and/or processes)Own content lifecycle; leading cross-org design reviews and participating in product and tech debates, directly influencing outcomes for customers.Use a combination of data analysis, user research, benchmarking, and audits to substantiate and sell-in content decisions and improvementsLead strategic alignment across orgs using significant expertise to advise on core UX disciplines, methods, and/or processesAlign teams and orgs towards simple, coherent approaches; communicating complicated product concepts with clear, jargon-free languageIncorporate post-launch retrospectives and feedback loops (user testing, customer feedback) for analysis-based optimizationSet content vision and optimize org structures and mechanisms to meet high-impact business goals.Align ambiguous content, technology, and customer education problems to help build and scale out new product solutionsManage a high volume of complex programs

A day in the life

You’ll manage and mentor a hybrid team of remote and on-site content designers and writers to inform, improve, and guide development of Ring’s content design systems—establishing shared goals and success metrics for an expanding function within a greater distributed team. You’ll champion design thinking best practices and data for an optimal customer journey—leading across the Design organization, out to partners, and within the broader Ring business to ship high-impact products, services, and features.

6+ years of design experience3+ years of leading design teams experienceExperience leading design teams in problem definition, artifact rendering, cross-functional collaboration and delivery, and user validation and measurementKnowledge of best practices for information architecture and interaction design, user-centered design processKnowledge of user experience principles and techniquesExperience shipping innovative, successful consumer productsFamiliarity with end-user documentation for consumer-packaged goods, tech, or electronicsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
