Job Summary:The Labor Relations Director is a corporate position responsible for leading and providing guidance to local HR Directors and hospital executive leadership in the negotiation, implementation, and day-to-day administration of their local collective bargaining agreements. The Director is the subject matter expert who will lead union contract negotiations for four (4) CBAs, respond to information requests, and represent the hospitals at arbitrations, mediations, and appeal hearings. The Director will develop influential relationships and travel to hospitals as needed to manage productive labor-union relations and ensure the best outcomes for the company and its employees. This role is critical in developing and executing the organization’s labor strategy. This position is based at our facility in Springfield, Oregon with travel as needed to other facilities.Duties and Responsibilities:Leads Labor Relations for HR Directors in all labor-union activities for California, Oregon, and Kentucky hospitals.Ability to travel as needed to support labor relations functions.Oversees the development of applicable bargaining plans and represents the Company as bargaining chairman in crucial contract negotiations. Corporate and local executives provide final authority to make binding agreements with the unions that can and will impact operations and the business’s finances.Defines and implements overall approach in defining processes, data requirements, and project planning for successful contract negotiations.Provides guidance to hospital executive leadership to achieve their business goals, answer questions involving the collective bargaining agreements, give advice and counsel on discipline-related matters, and provide guidance on potential workplace changes that may impact union-represented employees.Leads the development and implementation of labor-related communications and training programs for leaders, including content and delivery to avoid third-party representation.Manages labor-union relations to achieve and protect business objectives, maintain constructive working relationships, and ensure the best possible outcomes for the company and its employees.Qualifications:5+ years of experience as Chief Negotiator/First Chair in union contract negotiations required.Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or related field required - Master’s degree preferred.Extensive knowledge of labor relations practices and legal requirements.Requires thorough knowledge of applicable contract language and the intent, meaning, and application of past practices and precedents.Ability to work in a high-pressure environment where decisions may have a significant impact on the operations and finances of the Company.Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple projects.Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.This job description is not to be construed as a complete listing of the duties and responsibilities that may be given to any employee.
