Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our team! This Corporate Counsel position serves in the capacity of legal expert for matters pertaining to formal claims and litigation management, negotiating project contracts and contractual disputes, and health and safety-related company issues. This position will report to the General Counsel.Responsibilities
Coordinate efforts with other internal teams to propose appropriate risk management, identify critical project risk issues and make recommendations and provide summation of documents for execution.Substantial litigation experience or experience managing litigation - in professional liability or construction related matters is a plus.Substantial experience managing and responding to incoming third-party subpoena and Freedom of Information Act requests.Support and advise the company Health & Safety dept on the legal implications of health and safety-related issues, including OSHA, Workfit, and Workers Compensation claims.Demonstrate the ability to successfully integrate with and provide strategic counsel to internal business partners.Experience in analyzing non-compete/non-solicit agreements and drafting cease and desist letters.Review and negotiation of public-entity, and private client, professional services contracts, requests for proposals/qualifications (RFPs/RFQs), non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), teaming agreements, joint venture agreements, and other legal and contractual documents.Demonstrate the ability to mentor and lead others within an in-house legal department of a rapidly growing company.General corporate governance matters, as needed.Qualifications
J.D. Degree from an ABA-Accredited law school and strong academic credentials.AEC Industry experience preferred.8-12+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably including in-house experience.New Jersey Bar Admission – additional states a plus but not required.Knowledge and experience with professional liability law, particularly in the engineering and construction industry, is a plus.Possess strong internal client-relations, interpersonal, written and oral communication and analytical skills and be able to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally with all levels of management regarding legal issues.Ability to draft, review, evaluate, and negotiate various business agreements and effectively manage contract administration policies, systems, and procedures.Ability to remain calm under pressure, handle a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.What We Offer
