EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATIONMALCOLM X COLLEGEThe
Executive Director – Assessment & Evaluation
provides leadership and management oversight in creating and sustaining a culture of assessment within the college, establishing measures of accountability over work products, and working collaboratively with faculty and administrators to implement college, co-curricular, general education, programmatic, and course-level assessment plans that effectively measure student learning outcomes, support the college’s continuous improvement efforts, and provide the data support needed to meet regional and specialized accreditation standards and requirements of academic programs. Performs related duties as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Collaborates with college leadership in developing guidelines related to program evaluation, program review, learning objectives, outcomes assessment, and institutional effectiveness.Manages the college’s calendar of assessment and programmatic evaluation; implements a schedule and cycle for collecting and reporting student learning assessment data and ensures alignment with program review.Serves on the District Office Assessment Committee and coordinates the College’s Assessment Committee.Attends conferences, professional meetings, and related professional development opportunities to maintain or enhance competencies. Effectively shares best practices and lessons learned.Serves as a consultant and subject matter expert, working with faculty and academic administrators to design and maintain an integrated assessment system to evaluate measurable student learning outcomes at the course, program, and institutional/college level.Provides leadership in developing processes, procedures, and measurement tools to identify and define meaningful course- and program-level student learning outcomes, analyze meaningful assessment data, and utilize results to help faculty improve teaching and student learning.Consults with faculty and academic administrators during the assessment of student learning process, providing guidance on identifying assessment instruments, completing qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and ways to use assessment results for continuous improvement of academic quality.Supports the curriculum development process in forming appropriate course and program learning outcomes, major concepts, and assessment methods.Delivers professional development opportunities (e.g., workshops, seminars, conferences) to faculty and staff relevant to the college’s academic assessment initiatives.Cultivates and maintains cross-functional working relationships to strengthen the role of managing, collecting, and organizing student learning outcome data to facilitate access, analysis, and use by faculty.Consults with faculty to ensure that all program documentation is current, consistent, and accessible for all assessed courses.Supports the Office of Accreditation and Compliance in assessment activities needed to meet standards and reporting requirements of accrediting and licensing bodies, including data management, evidence and artifacts collection, and data support on compliance requests and site visits.Facilitates the coordination of college, co-curricular, and program level assessment activities to ensure alignment with institutional and accreditation expectations with respect to student learning.Coordinates ongoing development, implementation, and evaluation of an assessment plan for the entire institution by which the college will measure improvement and hold itself accountable.Leads efforts to revise and strengthen the college’s program review process, developing standard metrics to effectively identify areas of improvement, and to create more meaningful and measurable program improvements, in alignment with CCC’s goals and objectives.Provides guidance, direction, and technical assistance in conducting state required annual program review process for the ICCB and completing the annual Program Review report for subsequent submission to the ICCB.Leads and manages the program review process by providing templates, identifying appropriate data sources to measure performance, and editing program review documents for coherence and completion prior to executive leadership review.Collaborates with the Office of Research and Planning, Office of Grants Administration, and the Divisions of Academic Affairs and Student Services to design, implement and evaluate institutional programs, services, and initiatives.QUALIFICATIONS:Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Social Sciences, Assessment/Evaluation, Educational Research or a closely related field.Five years of professional work experience in higher education research, learning outcomes assessment, or compliance.Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of federal guidelines concerning higher education institutions.Demonstrated experience with quantitative and qualitative methods in designing and conducting assessments of student learning outcomes in higher education.Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing and evaluating programs, services, or initiatives.Demonstrated ability in developing and implementing assessment strategies.Knowledge of accreditation and evaluation processes established by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).Familiarity with specialized accreditation standards for various career fields, including health sciences and nursing.Knowledge of institutional assessment management practices, and student learning outcomes assessment principles and methods.Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment.Ability to work independently, as well as lead project teams.Ability to build relationships with employees at all levels of the organization.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong organizational and planning skills.Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a consultative role.Proficient in the use of statistical and assessment software (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Tableau, etc.).Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.We are an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.Thank you for your interest in City Colleges of Chicago!
