Within the International and Security Group, the Multilateral Economic Engagement Division is responsible for providing advice to the Prime Minister on Australia’s multilateral economic engagement, including G20, APEC, G7 and multilateral trade. The Division works collaboratively with a wide range of APS agencies to advance Australia’s national interests in a cohesive and strategic way. The Division’s success relies on having the relationships, capability and culture needed to thrive in a dynamic and complex international environment, where staff are empowered to strategically prioritise and shape objectives, and engage with risk to achieve outcomes.What you will do:As an EL2 Director in the Multilateral Economic Engagement Division, you will:What you will bring:
Our ideal candidate will perform at the Executive Level 2 level in accordance with the PM&C Performance model. We are seeking highly motivated, self-starting candidates who can demonstrate strong conceptual, analytical and communication skills (both written and oral) and a sound understanding of the Government’s international policy objectives and priorities. Flexibility and resilience will enable you to thrive in this fast-paced work environment. Successful candidates will have substantial work experience, including a demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes on complex matters. You will be able to demonstrate skills in preparing strategic policy advice under pressure, and developing written material to a very high standard. Prior experience working on economic and/or international policy is highly desirable, but not essential. Working in a small division with broad responsibilities, you will be able to quickly get across new material, consult broadly, and provide considered and succinct policy advice. You will have excellent analytical and written communication skills, including the ability to quickly and accurately synthesise material from a diverse range of sources into targeted briefing for senior officials and forums. You will have excellent attention to detail. Successful candidates will demonstrate critical thinking and excellent professional judgement, including in engaging with risk and managing competing priorities.
