Our united system of community programs, neighborhood centers, social enterprises, and partnerships connects individuals and their families across the region.POSITION OVERVIEWReporting to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, the Director of Digital Content will lead internal and external efforts for marketing and communications across all platforms. They will be responsible for leading Pillsbury United Communities’ digital and social media communications channels using print and visual storytelling, as well as producing and managing creative web content that informs users and supports community engagement. This position will lead a small team of contractors, working creatively to tell a compelling and cohesive story of Pillsbury United that resonates with the communities we serve and the individuals and organizations that fund our work.Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions)Strategy and thought leadershipDevelop content strategies across communication channels to increase internal and external engagement and raise awareness about PUC’s work and mission.Implement an effective content strategy for digital platforms, ensuring alignment with PUC brand.Create, curate, update, and edit engaging and high-quality content for PUC’s website.Support content development, functionality, integration, and management of PUC affiliate websites (e.g., KRSM, Full Cycle).Create, curate, write and distribute PUC newsletter to community stakeholders and donors.Develop and activate a content calendar that highlights agency programs, people, and impact to engage audiences across digital channels.Create marketing and community engagement materials in collaboration with program staff and other agency leaders.Work with development to support fundraising/donor campaigns and branded content.Knowledge of social media content, video editing and video production a plus.Operations and outcomesManage intake of communications/marketing requests and project schedules, feedback and project timelines.Engage and manage internal/external resources as needed including photos and videos to support storytelling.Optimize digital content for search engines to improve visibility and organic reach, including keyword research, on-page and metadata optimization.Monitor and review website analytics to identify trends, inform content strategy, identify content gaps, and track performance of PUC platforms.Create and maintain an accessible file management system that can be accessed by everyone throughout the agency, particularly for photography.Support narrative storytelling across media platforms.Support tabling and events, ordering supplies, and marketing and promotional collateral.Design and produce digital annual report and aggregate data to demonstrate impact.People and community developmentCreate connection amongst staff and community through creative content that generates pride and motivations action toward justice.Work closely with staff across the agency to uplift visual and digital storytelling; creating libraries, tools and templates that allow staff to grow in their own creative skillset.Attend community events and support program staff, as necessary.Recruit and cultivate relationships with community-based creative contractors and build a system that allows you to leverage them for creative projects across the agency.Financial ManagementEnsure all contractors are paid in a timely and organized fashion following all PUC protocol.Required Skills/ExperienceBS degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Proven experience in digital content creation, editing, and managementProficiency in content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing platforms including WordPressKnowledge of design software (Adobe tools, Mac platform, etc.) and familiarity with digital media-specific creative tech (HTML5 animation, video, dynamic feeds, etc.) and tools (Google Web Designer, Hype, Sketch)Strong understanding of SEO principles and best practicesFamiliarity with web analytics tools and data-driven decision-makingExcellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detailKnowledge of social media platforms and digital marketing techniquesAbility to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environmentStrong organizational and project management skillsAdaptability to evolving digital trends and technologiesDesired AttributesTested and trusted leaderPassion for what’s possibleClear sense of personal purposeCommitment to equity and social justiceCreative problem-solver and strategistSkilled communicator and collaboratorAffirmative Action/EEO statementAs an Equal Opportunity Employer, Pillsbury United Communities is intentional about its responsibility of maintaining an equitable environment that is inclusive and welcoming.
