At Sam’s Club, our Lead Counsels serve our members and associates as trusted business advisors driving strategy and advising on a wide range of business issues while empowering the organization to make informed decisions that align to enterprise objectives. You will participate in the strategic design, evaluation, and execution of significant Sam’s Club business initiatives and will provide executive leadership and field management with legal advice concerning a broad range of subjects. You will be expected to develop and leverage internal and external partnerships to address complex and novel legal issues that transcend functional departments. To be successful, you will need to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to mitigate legal and compliance regulatory risk.You will make an impact by:Identifying diverse legal issues originating from innovative strategic initiatives.Crafting novel legal solutions to drive business growth.Counseling business partners on alternative legal and business strategies.Collaborating with various Global Governance and business partners to deliver cross-functional projects.Providing legal advice to the company by providing clients with an informed understanding of the client's legal rights, obligations, and risks to allow the client to make informed decisions.Identifying the need for and overseeing outside legal support for business transactions and projects.Partnering with compliance and litigation professionals to mitigate trending risk.Leveraging technology to streamline processes, communication, and workflows.You will sweep us off our feet if…You have substantial, diverse legal experience (e.g., combination of in-house, government, leading law firm, etc.).You empower your business partners while working collaboratively to achieve cross-functional goals.You work proactively and leverage preventative measures in the spirit of protecting stakeholders, members, and associates.You demonstrate confidence and are willing to make decisions.You craft innovative legal solutions and think strategically.You demonstrate leadership.You influence others through effective communication.You can manage a diverse workload that includes transactional work.Minimum Qualifications:Law degree from an accredited law school and 6 years’ experience in law.License to practice law in at least one state.2 years’ experience leading cross-functional teams.Primary Location:2101 Se Simple Savings Dr, Bentonville, AR 72712-4304, United States of AmericaBenefits & Perks:Beyond competitive pay, you can receive incentive awards for your performance.
