Vice President (VP) of Finance

REPORTS TO:

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

STATUS:

Full-Time, Exempt

SALARY RANGE:

$175,000-$250,000

Founded in San Francisco in 1902, the LightHouse's purpose is to promote the independence, equality and self-reliance of people who are blind or visually impaired. The LightHouse is currently in a period of growth, increasing our capacity to serve more low-vision and blind clients.

OVERVIEW:

The VP of Finance will manage all financial aspects of LightHouse, ensuring financial health, stability, and growth. Key responsibilities include financial planning, risk management, recordkeeping, financial reporting, and compliance. The VP of Finance will work closely with the CEO and the Board of Directors to support strategic decision-making and advance the organization's mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or MBA.

CPA required.

Minimum of 10 years of financial leadership experience, including at least five years in a nonprofit organization.

Experience with Dynamics Business Central Finance system required.

Qualified CPA with at least five years of experience in a senior finance role within a nonprofit.

Familiarity with nonprofit finance regulations.

Experience in financial and cost accounting within a manufacturing organization.

Proven success in facilitating organizational change and development.

Excellent judgment, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.

Strong mentoring and coaching experience.

Ability to multitask and handle high priorities.

Experience working with City and County of San Francisco, California state, and federal contracts.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience as an auditor in an audit firm.

Proficiency in Dynamics Business Central and VENA.

Experience in financial and cost accounting in a manufacturing organization.

Experience working with individuals who are blind or have other disabilities.

Strong writing and presentation skills.

Experience with electronic recordkeeping and remote training platforms.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Leadership:

Develop and implement financial strategies to support organizational goals.

Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Financial Management:

Manage financial resources, including cash flow, investments, and reserves.

Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, reports, and audits.

Oversee accounting and financial reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other standards.

Risk Management and Compliance:

Identify and manage financial risks with effective strategies.

Ensure compliance with all financial, legal, and regulatory requirements.

Oversee internal controls and audit processes.

Operations and Systems:

Lead the financial operations team, providing guidance and professional development.

Implement and manage financial systems and technologies, including Dynamics Business Central and VENA.

Strategic Planning:

Participate in strategic planning processes.

Provide financial analysis to support strategic initiatives and funding opportunities.

Collaborate with program and development teams to align financial strategies with organizational goals.

Executive Leadership:

Serve on the Executive Leadership Team and contribute to LightHouse's strategic goals.

Advise on organizational direction, financial planning, budgeting, and policy matters.

Present financial statements to executives and the Board of Directors.

Create 3-5-year cash flow projections and track key performance indicators (KPIs).

Willingness to perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises 3-5 employees within the Finance Team.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit at a desk and perform computer-intensive work for extended periods daily.

Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Must be able to independently travel to all LightHouse physical locations and events as needed.
