Job Title: NICU Respiratory Therapist Job Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights every weekend, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, every other holiday, with some on-call required Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: - Respiratory Therapist License required prior to start date - Reciprocal license needed within 6 months of start date Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 days of start date - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of start date - Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) within 6 months of start date Must-Have: - Ability to train staff on all NICU equipment - Proficiency in assessing and improving clinical skills Job Description: - Assist with special projects, validations, and orientations within the NICU - Participate in new staff orientation and annual competency evaluations - Monitor employee validations to ensure completion - Engage in creating and reviewing policies and procedures - Contribute to department performance improvement programs and adjust staff assignments for participation - Provide staff development and improve the clinical skills of the clinical team - Assist with event/incident reporting for patient and employee safety occurrences - Report issues and malfunctions to appropriate departments - Function as department supervisor in the supervisor's absence - Perform pain assessment and take appropriate action according to standard operating procedures
