Weekly Pay Range - $2203 To $2448 Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - Surgical and Neuroscience Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00-19:00 Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role License: Active RN license Certifications: Epic experience required Must-Have: - Recent Trauma Level One Experience - Competency with EVDs, bolts, and ICP management - Experience with trauma and complex surgical patients - 1.5 years of experience in a 600+ bed academic hospital or 2 years of total (travel + permanent) experience Job Description: The Surgical and Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (SICU and Neuro ICU) provides specialized care to critically ill adult patients aged 14 and older. The unit consists of 30 intensive care beds, with a 50/50 split between neuro and surgical patients. The focus of care includes: - Major elective and emergency surgical procedures - Multi-trauma and traumatic brain injury - Spinal injury, stroke, seizure, sepsis/multi-organ system failure - Hemodynamic instability and failure to wean Nurses in this unit need to have skills in: - Comprehensive physical assessments and intensive monitoring - Ventilator and hemodynamic management - ICP monitoring via EVD and bolt, spinal drains/catheters - Brain oxygen monitoring, Artic Sun therapy, continuous EEG - Intra-arterial catheter, non-invasive cardiac output - Mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy - Reconstructive flap monitoring, and massive blood transfusion Nursing support for on-unit procedures includes: - Placement of arterial lines, central lines, external ventricular drains - ICP monitors, SEPS drains, bedside bronchoscopy - Abdominal washouts, tracheostomy, gastrostomy tube placement - Lumbar punctures, chest tubes, pigtail drains This role requires effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
